May 3, 200422 yr I have just purchased and have been flying the Flight 1 Conquest. I find it hard to believe this ac would not have a DME receiver at all!! JamesJ
May 3, 200422 yr the stock 1999/2000 172's i fly don't have it eitheri use the factory-installed kln89b for distance informationmaybe it's a trend...:)
May 3, 200422 yr Though I appreciate their including a DME through the HSI gauge, I would have really liked to see a DME in the stack. It's very unlikely that any 441's flying without GPS lack the DME for IFR flying.
May 3, 200422 yr Other than the DME issue, how do you like the aircraft? Are the frame rates good?Happy Simming!Scott :-)ATP/CFII - KCOS
May 3, 200422 yr There are plenty of third party radios. Ya might try adding the DMEfrom the default stack in FS9?EJ AND
May 3, 200422 yr Including the DME indicator would have meant a major change away from the panel layout. As this was modelled after the real thing, Flight1 didn't want to do that (the DME indicator is probably somewhere off to the side hidden away).Everything is of course a compromise.Install the RXP Apollo and you have a DME on its stack :)
May 3, 200422 yr One thing Dreamfleet does that I wish others would also do is include a Hobbs meter. I really like to see the time I build on specific airplanes. :-)Eric AND
May 3, 200422 yr Commercial Member Flight Simulator already does that for you Eric.Go to your Documents and Settings|(your name)|Application Data| Microsoft|FS9| Aircraft and open up the State.cfg for the related aircraft.Bet ya didnt know that did ya' :(Jim Rhoads
May 4, 200422 yr Wow! no, I didnt know this. Now if I could just read it on a HOBBS METER inside my C-441 I'd be ever so delighted... :-)On a 3rd party basis, this would be cool to have a utility that would read these state.cfg files and provide metrics.(thanks Jim I really did not know this tidbit!)Eric AND
May 4, 200422 yr Eric, It's kind of cool actually. Every aircraft you have flown in fs has a folder in there and inside the folder it shows the time, I have a LOT of folders and not much time in many of them!Hornit
May 4, 200422 yr I doubt the real 441 has a Hobbs meter. Those are used by rental agencies to determine the amount of airtime on the aircraft you rented.441 would not be rented out by the hour so don't need that.
May 4, 200422 yr Something funny happened this weekend related to "Hobbs meters"...my wife rented a carpet cleaner so that we could shampoo the carpets in our home. Im cleaning away with that darn thing and I look on the top of it...and it has a HOBBS Meter! just like in an airplane! My wife says.."There...now you can log the hours!" Eric AND
May 4, 200422 yr It may or may not have a Hobbs. Many 135 charter operations quote a flight based on estimated flight time, and then bill out based on the Hobbs. A number of companies use Hobbs time to track total hours in the aircraft in addition to tach hours. I have also seen Hobbs counters installed on larger aircraft flying 121 (airline) routes. The 421 I have flown has a Hobbs. The 1963 Skylane I fly has none. Its pretty random.
