Stumped on KONT2012 night ramp lighting

Featured Replies

Maybe one of you guys can give me an idea that will help me fix an issue with KONT2012. The night lighting for the main, FedEx and UPS ramps does not display correctly. All I get are huge bright white and gray blocks with (barely) visible gate markings. All other night lighting appears normal in this and all other sceneries.

Tried the following without success:

1. Completely removed previous scenery and did not find any duplicate AFCAD or any other files that may be related to KONT.

2. Tried a half dozen of different graphic drivers. Have an ATI 5850 graphic card.

3. Disabled all addon scenery and tested for conflicts.

Does anybody know any adjustments in the fs.cfg or any addon lighting textures that might conflict? Any and all ideas are much appreciated.

Steve

I don't see this at all with an nVidia card... I was part of the beta for this airport and never saw the effect you describe. There are a couple of things you can try: the release came with a scenery.dat file - remove it and let FS rebuild the file on startup; second, make sure the NUM_LIGHTS=8 in the [GRAPHICS] section of your FS9.cfg file. Other than that I have no idea what's going on....

Thanks for the suggestions, but still no success.

I have also kept a log going back a couple of years, to note every time I make any changes to FS and I still can't find anything that looks as if it affects the So. Cal area except some additional FSGenesis mesh.

Since the new version displays fine during the day, and the previous one displays fine for nights, I can always load that version for night flying.

I thought it may be some quirky elevation issue, but I tried diddling with a few flatten switches and also got nowhere with those, either. So again, if any one has a idea please share, even if its not the solution, it may trigger another idea that might be...

If you had a previous version there was a file with those that had an elevation fix that is referenced in the text file in the distro zip, but that shouldn't be affecting the lighting, None the less, take a look at the text note and make sure the file referenced isn't floating around in your scenery or scenery\namw folder...

I am having the same issue that you are Steve.

DJ,

Yeah, I found that file and removed it, but it wasn't the cause.

Deltaguy,

What kind of graphic card do you have?

OK, I'm out of bright ideas - with any luck Shez will notice this thread and get involved...

The lighting is based on FS9 generic BGL_LIGHT NAV trigger so it may be that somewhere something has changed this in your set up. The LGB scenery also has this. Could you check that and let me know if it works there?

No problems for me at KLGB either - so something must be odd in the OP's setup.

Shez,

OK, I get the same result with KLGB2010. However... one time and one time only, the night textures displayed correctly for about 10 seconds until I started to zoom in, then it switched back to the white and gray rectangless. Since then it looks like the correct textures appear for a split second and then changes to the faulty display, so some setting must be interfering, I guess.

At least the ATI graphics card and driver will display these textures just fine. So if anyone has any ideas on what the default settings are for the BGL_LIGHT NAV trigger and possibly any default files that may have been changed? As always, most appreciated.

And, thanks for your support, Shez. Its really commendable.

Steve,

I have an ATI HD5850 graphics card. I too have the same result at KLGB. Guess I won't fly to these to locations at night. Let me know if you come up with a fix. Thanks

Hmmm. I have the exact same card, so maybe it does have something to do with this. If, by chance, I find the cause and solution, I'll post it. Good luck.
