FSX finally stable

Featured Replies

Hi Gents

Just wanted to share some good news with all of you. (might help some others out there too)

As with so many flight simmers I was struggling with a Fatal error CTD problems in FSX.

After using menus (popup panels) for 20 plus times I would get a CTD guaranteed.

Many people recommended I place the UIAutomationCore.dll file in the main FSX directory.

So did that but without success.

Got told to place the vista 32 bit UIAutomationCore .........did not work

Tried other versions of UIAutomationCore ........................did not work

Then I came across this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/win-7-64-bit-fsx-fatal-error-ctd-restart/14fc20fa-9dca-465b-be42-146414087ec5

THIS WORKED FOR ME. ( Finally )

It gets rid of all UIAutomatioCore.dll files including the ones in the system32 and syswow64 and FSX directory folders .

Just follow the instructions carefully and back up the evil UIAutmationCore.dll files just in case you have conflict with other programs.

(you can place them back momentarily if needed)

FSX for me is now totally stable. NO MORE Fatal errors NO MORE CTD's

Completed 2 x 4 hour flights yesterday without any issues. (abused the crap out of the menu's and views)

Rock solid and no problems when I exit FSX either.

I run win7 64 bit i7 sandy bridge (not OC) 16 gig ram gtx 580 card etc, etc

HAPPY DAYS

When you tried the UIAutomationCore fix, were you using the Vista version and did you also register it after placing it?

A lot of people don't properly register the .dll file and they continue to get CTD's.

Hi there trip7cap,

To be honest I did not.

however still found people complaining about it after doing that so not sure.

There again for me it is much better to eliminate the problem causing dll files all together.

To be sure, to be sure

Good news Rick.

Nothing more annoying than lining up for approach after a 3-4 hour flight to suddenly be looking at your desktop..i speak from experience

I have at times been very close to going to the shed to get my largest Hammer

You should be aware that removing uiautomationcore.dll may cause other applications to have serious issues. It is part of the OS for a reason.

Hi folks,

Found this

UI Automation (UIA) is an Application Programming Interface (API) for User Interface (UI) accessibility that is designed to help Assistive Technology (AT)

AT products work with applications in order to provide better access for individuals who have physical or cognitive difficulties, impairments, or disabilities.

Does this solve the black screens and CTD errors when using ENB bloom mod? I never have been able to use that with fullscreen, and windowed mode has worse performance. Tradeoffs I guess.
