June 14, 201213 yr I downloaded and installed some photorealistic scenery of Area 51. It has several areas around Area 51. There was a readme but it was inadequate. I put all the scenery files in a sub-folder of S4 called Scenery. I put all the textures into a sub-folder of the S4 folder called Textures. I tried installing it in the Scenery manager. It was added OK. Now I get an error "Scenery.cfg Invalid Remote Scenery Path in Scenery Area 124.".. Area S4 shows up in the airport select window of FSX. I tried editing the scenery.cfg file in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX to add the line to the area 124 entry: Local=Addon Scenery\S4 but I still get the error. Can anyone please help me fix it. I read somewhere else that adding scenery with WIn was a problem. Thanks, Bob.
June 14, 201213 yr Have you followed this? http://aussiex.org/f...with-windows-7/ And a tool I use to repair scenery cfg issues: http://www.simforums.com/forums/uploads/12417/FSTscenery.zip Just place it in the directory where your scenery cfg is and run it. It will repair any errors DIMITRI
June 14, 201213 yr Author Hi Venus. Thanks. I have tried that solution but it did not work for me. The strange thing is that the S4 scenery shows up OK in FSX. I'll try the tool. Regards, Bob.
June 14, 201213 yr Hey Bob,try the tool I mentioned, and keep us posted on what eventuates. Cheers! DIMITRI
June 14, 201213 yr Thats what I thought at first, but then I saw that he did try ithat. Local=Addon Scenery\S4 DIMITRI
June 14, 201213 yr But he did say that he put the textures in a subfolder called Textures Good point! Unless he actually meant Texture? DIMITRI
June 14, 201213 yr Author Hi all. Thanks to all those who answered my post. I tried the tool but it did not fix the problem. The library was numbered correctly before I used the tool and afterwards too. I meant Texture not Textures. Sorry about that. As I said above I tried editing the scenery.cfg file in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX to add the line to the area 124 entry: Local=Addon Scenery\S4 but I still get the error. As far as I can see this line should be in the Area 124 entry. but when I add it manually, save it, and rerun FSX that line is removed. From my screenshots above the path seems to be right. Best regards, Bob.
June 14, 201213 yr I can not image that it would matter, but it looks like in your cfg Title=s4 the s is lower case and your folder is named with an upper case S. Also in your S4 folder make sure that your sub scenery and texture folders have the correct spelling. You can try changing Title=s4 to an upper case S then adding the line Local=Addon Scenery\S4 back in and saving it. After you save it open it back up and see if the line is there, if it is not then it is not saving it for some reason. If this is the case copy the scenery.cfg to some folder outside of FSX, try your documents folder, see if you can get this changed and saved there, if you can then copy it back to where it normally goes and fire up fsx. Make sure you keep a copy of the original someplace safe just in case. You can also try deleting S4 in your scenery library, then continue loading all the way into FSX until you have wheels on the ground. Quit FSX then go back into it and add S4 in again from the scenery library screen.
June 14, 201213 yr Author Thanks idahosurge. I added the line: Remote=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery to Area 124 and it works now. Maybe the lower case S was the problem. Thanks for all the help from everyone. I really do appreciate it. Bob.
June 14, 201213 yr Don't forget that when adding a scenery area under W7, you need to browse to the folder, click "OK" then click anywhere in the white space under the file list. Not also that program data is a protected folder. If you wish to edit it you need to do it with Administrator privileges.
June 14, 201213 yr Hello Bob, You could always go back to basics and add the bgls to the FSX/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder and then go run FSX. If you have to add new scenery, then Win7 has this stupid step of clicking in the white area of the window as mentioned earlier. You can google 'adding secenery in FSX in Win7' and find some step by step images of where to click in Win7. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
