Spectacular! I just installed it and took a quick hop from Bellingham to Orcas in the Dreamfleet Archer.I'm using the FSGenesis mesh and Landclass as well with no apparent problems. Thanks for this fantastic scenery.Jim

I just installed it and it looks stunning!I have 3 questions however:If I remove the default shorelines, road network, etc. and fly outside the boundaries of this scenery, then I will not see any of these default items, right? If I install the FSGenesis beta landclass what effect, if any, will this have on landclass I already have installed for other parts of the US?When I started at Concrete (3W5) before I installed this scenery, I saw a bridge. After installation the bridge went away. Why did the bridge go away and is there really one there anyway? Thanks!Airbus

Hi all, thanks everyone for the enthusiastic response to the North Cascades files. As with any of my other projects, none of this would have been possible without the utilities provided by members of the SF community; it's the people that produce "output" with these tools that tend to get most of the credit but without the Jim's and Christian's and Dick's we'd be stuck staring at the default scenery ;-)Airbus, your first two questions are dealt with in my read-me file - I know, I need to put more colors and pictures in those "novels" ;-) 1. My replacement shorelines etc. leave the areas outside of the coverage areas intact; you won't lose anything!2. The FSG landclass will be overridden by my landclass/scenery files but only in the coverage area; everywhere else, it'll be FSG that's visible (landclass files, similar to mesh, sort themselves out so the local files will override the larger, regional files independent of their placement in the sim's File Library)3. Yup, that bridge was in the wrong place and got removed. Actually, there is a "new" highway bridge just north of the airfield, in the correct position. If any of you use the Georender 4 "Darington" scenery: I have been told that you need to place at a higher priority (= above) in the Scenery Library to avoid seeing "plains" of water. Other than that, it seems to blend in reasonably well with my scenery/landclass.Cheers, Holger

Just downloaded this package. I normally restrict my VFR flying to the UK but looks like I'm going to have to take my RealAir Scout somewhat further afield this weekend:-)Thanks Holger!Adam Moorewww.hhuk.netWin XP Pro - Dell Dimension 4500P4 2.54 GHz - 1GB RAMHiTech Radeon 128MB 9800Pro IceQ19" CRT 1600x1200 @ 100hzAudiophile 24/96FS2004 + UK2000 1/2/3/4/5/6/EGLL PROUK VFR 1/2/3/4UK VFR TERRAIN MESH (Visualflight)Ultimate VFR : RealAir SF-260Ultimate IFR : PMDG 737-700NGUltimate FUN : RealAir Scout Taildragger

Wow, what a difference! Like many others I already have the FSGenesis mesh and landclass installed, no problems at all.I just completed my first flight from Concrete (3W5) north to Mt Shuksa, west along the North Fork Nooksack River valley (strange names they got up there ;)), and then south to Skagit Regional (KBVS). All the rivers were flowing nicely down the valleys (instead of up and down over the mountainsides), a lot of small (and some bigger) glacier lakes could be seen from above, and the roads were just as carefully placed. The textures seemed a lot more varied as well. Really a fatastic experience, the whole landscape looked so much more realistic and credible.I'd really like to say thank you to Holger Sandmann for this wonderful package, Justin Tyme for the mesh, Markus Brunner for the GA AI traffic, and RealAir Simulations for their Bellanca Scout. VFR flying with FS9 and these addons is more interesting and immersive than I ever thought it could be!Just my 2c (EUR),VOlker :]

Hip-hip hooray for Holger our hero! :DCheers,Jim

Thanks much HolgerI fly alot in the northwest and this was such a wonderful treat.I also use fsgenesis mesh and landclass and no problems here.Thank you very much for this exciting add-nBob

Like the others I can only say thank you Holger for this wonderful scenery. It is so real, so immersive !

Is the mesh compatible with Orcas Island and the Georender series?

Jimmig, for Orcas Island, the readme says : "Also, for users of the FSAddon "Orcas Island" scenery (which has problems with add-on mesh) my mesh file might be a suitable option as it ends just east of Orcas Island."

I am well aware of Holger and his wonderful touch. He first came to my attention when he corrected the Canadian Rockies. By adding Lake Louise and correcting some very bad problems at Castlegar, he was my hero. However, before I inflate his ego TOO much because of his wonderful North Cascades package, I do have a bit of a nitpick to get him down to earth. The bridge at deception pass has been removed. Now granted, Microsoft can not properly render a bridge that sits about 300ft above the water, and the autogen bridge was inadequate since it did not include the little Island that sits in the middle of the pass.Holgers scenery indeed includes the little island, but since the road now does not have a clear shot from one side to another, it does not generate an Autogen bridge.Perhaps Holger, on version 1.2 can have someone hand paint a realistic bridge over deception pass. But seriously Holger, the scenery is great, and I second the motion of an entire cascades. I would love to see your touch in the Snoqualmie, Lake Easton, Wennatchee area. You could even use the mesh to properly locate and place Snoqualmie falls.By the way, just raggin you about decpetion pass, but someone had to deflate you from all this hero worship going on in this thread...(grin)

Hi all, thanks again for all the nice comments and useful feedback! As for Orcas Island, my add-on mesh doesn't include it but I also found a reasonable work-around for those users that have issues with other add-on mesh that cover the island. Here's the link to the "mesh mosaic": http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=22477Will, if someone was to ask me what's the biggest issue with the North Cascades package in its current version I'd have pointed out Deception Pass bridge too (and there are a few other prominent bridges either missing or "modeled" with the often unsatisfactory autogen bridges). I didn't place an autogen bridge at the Pass because it looks terrible the way the flat bridges hug the terrain.BTW, it was the same issue with my Victoria Falls scenery; for that Johan van Wyk came to the rescue.I'm not a GMax designer but there might be help available for the Cascades too; I was contacted by someone who does have GMax skills and is interested in adding the bridges and a few other structures ;-) Keep you fingers crossed. Cheers, HolgerP.S.: As usual, I pointedly refuse to respond to requests but that doesn't mean I don't read them ;-)

Well Holger, I am very content to "overlook" the Deception Pass bridge, because of the outrageous flight I took up the Skagit River. As a child, I was fortunate my family took me on a tour of the Upper Skagit River. I have always loved Dams, and this was a real treat. The Tour (which I don't think they do anymore), consisted of a combination Bus and Boat ride to view the three Seattle City Light Dams on the Skagit River, (Gorge High Dam, Diablo Canyon Dam, and Ross Dam). The tour consisted of a bus ride to Gorge High Dam, where we toured the dam and power generation rooms, then we drove up to Diablo Dam and toured it as well. It was capped off by a boat trip from Diablo Dam, to the Base of Ross Dam.I stood in awe because each dam, progressively got larger and more impressive, and sitting in a boat as you look straight up at Ross Dam tood your breath away.Imagine my thrill and sense of nostalgia as I flew my Mooney from Concrete, and followed the Upper Skagit to see all three Dams of my youth represented. It didn't matter that they were not very detailed, just to see them there was enough for me.You've done a great job, and I look forward to downloading and touring other areas. Thank you for the loving care you took to recreate one of the most naturally beautiful areas on this planet.Cheers,
