Bugs in Flight

Featured Replies

Hi @ll,

I think that one good thing we could do as community is to report those bugs that can be reproducible by ourselves or others in their computers. I will start with those that I found myself.

1. Missing AC

This has been exposed in other thread, basically is that when you hunt for an AC your radar is working, but you can be on top of it and being unable to see it. Usually it happens after you make Alt+Tab to some other programs several times. Can be corrected just closing Flight and running it again.

2. Missing Jobs

If you accept and start a job and later you crash you can re do the job reinitializing it or from a control point. But, if for some circumstance you need to close Flight for some reason (your wife wants a lift to supermarket), it will ask you if you want to abandon the job, and the only option is Yes or Cancel. Once you start the game again you will find that that job is missing from job's list. I think that not being a proper bug in code is a bug in conception, it should have at least an option for a control point, or at least to have the job on the list at a later time.

3. Crashes as gifts

Flight states that if you close the game, next time you play it your plane will be in the same position and condition as when you closed it. And it's O.K. but now try this:

Go to hangar and choose the ICON plane, then in the map put it in middle of sea and select Free Fly, then you are flying over the sea. Now land on sea and go to the hangar again, select another plane and back to Free Fly, there you go... nice crashing by courtesy of Flight. Now you select Fly and then it appears correctly flying.

Developers didn't think about this facility of changing planes could affect some of them.

I am waiting for yours, then i will test them and if reproducible i will edit and add them to the list.

That isn't so much a bug as a deliberate attempt to crash. Simply opening and closing your Map should never move your location.

If you select a plane that is inappropriate for the situation in which you put yourself, MS is not really the one to blame. It is impossible to protect somebody from their own decisions.

You are correct in theory, but there is a bug or glitch when going to and back from the map that moves the aircraft.

To reproduce: Park inside some hangars or right next to one, then go to map and back. You plane will move and sometimes will account for a crash.

RoboRay, i think i dont need to remember you that this is a game after all. Being that the plane is virtual and nobody told me i have to remember what was my last plane used and where i left it, in RL you cannot close session in a flight and say, ok, i will carry on next month with this. Even more, this is caused because the game offer you the facility to change planes on fly, and never better said. So you can take off with a mustang and land on a RV-6, which in RL cannot be done. So if the game causes the issue, the game should have the tools or warnings to avoid those crashes.

So as an old programmer myself i think this issue could be corrected in a very easy way. Provided the actual position is going to give a crash to a new plane you select, just make it appears on the air, at the end of the day is what it does after the crash.

Same situation can be reproducible too with an RV-6 or ICON and some other big plane later. just put the small plane in some place near a wall, house, etc... where it keeps very tight, now select a big plane and there you go with your crash.

I thought bugs were supposed to be reported at another location at Steam rather than this forum.....

Yes, they are reported in a proper place, named MICROSOFT, not anywhere else or Steam, that is just a vendor, the only bug you can report there is if your order is not delivered. But I didnt expect this thread to be a report, just a database of reproducible bugs, intended to help others to know when some cirscumstance is just happening to them or a well known bug in the program.

Too, if someone wants to take the job, databased bugs can be later reported properly to MS thru their usual conducts.

But honestly, until now the only replyes this thread had were non constructive ones, so really why to carry on with the task? I am too old to waste my time reading non constructive posts or writing constructive ones that nobody cares or welcome.

Sorry if i was an annoyance for you.

Actually, the Steam Forum is the official Flight forum, managed by Microsoft employees.

The point of posting there is so the Flight Devs actually see your bug list.

Does anyone else get a strong sense of Uncanny Valley here?

Athlas54, there are a lot of official beta testers here, and we still have access to post bugs on the official bug tracker for Flight. A lot of bugs that are reported here, if they haven't already been mentioned, are entered into the official data base.

While the devs do read this forum, they are most active on the Steam forum, so if you're going to post bugs on a forum, that's the one to do it on.

Hi and bye, cause this will be my last post in this thread.

1. This is getting ridiculous. When and where did I tell or write my intention was to open a list of bugs to be report to MS? I said report, true, but to our own community, to be know by those looking or lurking for a problem. If later that could be convenient or not, to be transported to MS is another story.

2. If the official forum for MSF is in Steam, which is true, what the hell are we doing here? Every answer or question should be there, isnt it? I move right now and will suggest to the administrator of this forum to move all the post over there too. They are doing nothing here.

3. just a suggestion, read what is written, not what you suppose is written. Mostly of the people is clever enough to say white if they want to say white, no need for translation to any other color. Do that, or stop trolling.

4. I came to this forum looking for information. And found valuable one. Thanks for it. My only intention was to give some pay back in return for those new members that are starting, like me, to avoid some of the hassle I had, getting the information in just one place, instead to have to be looking thru a lot of posts.

5. See you in Steam forums.

Methinks you are overreacting a mite much, but ok. See you there.

just a suggestion, read what is written, not what you suppose is written.

Suggest you take that to heart yourself. Might cut down on needless drama.

This forum is created for the people who like to fly in Flight and who also like to talk about it. Share experiences, views, thoughts, expectations, tips, etc. As has been said a few times by now official support and bug reports should be done on the Steamforum, which is the official place for that. Of course someone may discuss bugs or things he or she wants to report or certain wishes, but the actual reports and wishes and what not should be done over there, because this is 'just' a forum for Flight enthusiastics and not the official forum. MS employees may follow this forum, but if you want your message to be read by MS, post it on the Steam support forum!

I will post a sticky about this today because there seems to be a bit of confusion about this. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/378643-bug-reports-wishes-requests-complaints-etc/

And btw: I don't really understand what bug 1 exactly is, but bug 2 and 3 aren't real bugs imho but game design choices.

Let me end by saying that you should take some time to cool down a little: you are indeed overreacting. You used some bad language, it seems you also made a bad remark about the moderation, and you also used the world troll... Topic locked.
