July 11, 201213 yr Blimey, I have been busy posting on this forum today. Again another issue I have read about but never experienced has just occurred. Just did a reinstall of the 737 and expansion and encountered the wing hard over thing on approach. Did a nice flight from Islamabad to Kathmandu. Nice approach over the mountains. One of those fs flights that remind you of why we do it if you know what I mean and then at DH....BANG left wing down in an instant. At first there was nothing I could do but just as I was about to plough into the grass short of the runway I got it back together and BANG...again she went over. No saving it this time. It was a frightful mess frankly. Anyhow I changed my active sky turbulence setting before the flight from something like 20 to 50. I did this out of curiosity because I had never actually experienced any wake effect since I have had active sky. I am assuming that this is what caused the issue because as I was landing out of the mist came an AI aircraft from the airport. I then flew through where it had just come from. What I would like to know guys is what setting do you use for this? I have gone back to 20 because like I said it never seemed to do anything but I am tempted to turn it off completely as it ruined a damn nice flight. Is it worth keeping on? What setting do you use? Do you ever see a manageable amount of wake or is FS really so inept at doing this that even active sky can't help it? I am of course just assuming and hoping that this was the cause because I have had my fill of balls ups in the FS department the last couple days. July 11, 201213 yr I leave mine on the default setting, set dynamic rate of change to 0 and turn off all FSUIPC weather settings if you use them. I personally think AI aircraft do more harm than good Regards, Richard Nobes Yes, I sometimes exceed 250kts below 10,000ft! Imagine that....
July 11, 201213 yr Is it worth keeping on? Not in my opinion. It's grossly exaggerated and frequently occurs when no traffic is anywhere around. DJ
July 11, 201213 yr The other thing to make sure is that you don't have other game controllers set for any of the axis. I had this problem and assumed it was wake turbulance, but it turned out to be idle Goflight throttle controller that would spike sometimes and send my plane in a left downward spiral. It's one of the reasons I use FSUIPC so that I can assign controllers for each individual aircraft and the others are ignored. Steve Stephen Munn
July 13, 201213 yr I'm all for realism, but the wake turbulence, much less any turbulence, in FSX is inaccurate. Also, I've had instances where I am l approaching the correct runway for the wind direction, but the AI traffic is not, and as a result I am at the final stages of landing when an AI aircraft takes off in my direction, creates wake turbulence, and and I get caught in it and crash. The moral of the story is, turn off wake turbulence, as well as crashes with other aircraft. A.J. Domingo
