July 13, 201213 yr I don't know about you guys, but I wish that aircraft creators would give an option where you might actually find something wrong during the checklist. Call it an Easter Egg hunt. It gets very boring running through checklists over and over, always knowing that everything is the same way. Keep us on our toes! July 13, 201213 yr Believe it or not, there is rarely ever a switch out of place. It would be quite uncommon to find on out of position, though I do feel that this would be a neat feature to have anyway, as you say, to keep us on our toes... Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
July 14, 201213 yr I suppose it would be possible to make a 'gremlins' gauge that randomly changes some settings when the plane is loaded. Another option is an external program that can fill in some random values in a .flt file. It should work fine with stock FS options but changing things in third party gauges could be trickier.
July 14, 201213 yr I get what you mean. It might also be interesting say in an airliner such as the 737NGX by PMDG, when you power up to see the MFDU's in different set-ups as different pilots prefer them as well as the MCP set to a random last flight if in a turnaround setting. Tim HeptinstallAirports I have been to: Doncaster Robin Hood Airport EGCN, East Midlands (EGNX), Manchester (EGCC), Tenerife South/Reina Sofia Airport (GCTS), Fuerteventura Airport (GCFV), New York John F Kennedy International Airport (KJFK)Aircraft I have travelled on: 737-800 (Thomson), 737-800WL (Thomson, Ryanair), 757-200 (Thomson, Thomas Cook), 757-200WL (Thomson, Thomas Cook, American Airlines), De Havilland Dragon Rapide (Classic Wings G-AIYR). Usually the airline has a standard that tells you how to leave an aircraft for shutdown so there are no surprises. Chris Miller
July 14, 201213 yr Usually the airline has a standard that tells you how to leave an aircraft for shutdown so there are no surprises.Well, that is the theory. But in practice things can always go wrong, hence the need for checklists.
July 14, 201213 yr Well, that is the theory. But in practice things can always go wrong, hence the need for checklists. I wouldn't call leaving the altitude window in the FCU set to 1000' instead of 10,000' "Going Wrong", but correct, we do have scans and checks to check for these sort of things, what I'm saying is though, is that typically they're not left in the wrong position, it's rare that you would find something out of place in your panel scans.... July 14, 201213 yr I meant 'wrong' in a very generic sense. A better example of 'wrong' would be leaving on the tape over the static port after maintenance. But if errors are rare then that is just a matter of setting up a very low probability. Besides, the purpose of a 'gremlin' gauge is to keep flightsimmers busy. Just like a trainingsession in a professional simulator will have more emergencies then a routine flight.
