July 20, 201213 yr It's odd. I love the light in Flight. I have the idea there really is light. But when you compare Flight with real world pictures... there seems to be no light at all in Flight. Even at daytime it's rather grey as if it is clouded... Somehow screenshots don't work to give the right impression...?

That might be because so many real world pictures are taken in perfect conditions. Much of the time the same areas could be slightly hazy. Perhaps Flight uses that kind of slightly-hazy look to keep from looking "too" colorful, or as samtx said, cartoonish? There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

I discard well over 90% of my photos (taken and not even taken) because the light or haze makes them look bland. You never see a photographers bad or even average shots. :)

You never see a photographers bad or even average shots. :) That's exactly what I do. I also tend to over saturate my photos just a little for effect. It makes them look less realistic while giving the impression of more realism.
July 20, 201213 yr Hmf. You guys ever used a darkroom? :D Kids today have it SO easy... just push a couple of buttons and the picture is perfect. In seconds. And it costs nothing to take 10 times as many pictures in hopes of getting one that looks decent. I used to consider myself successful if one picture out of a roll of 36 was postcard quality. You remember roll film, right? :D On an interesting positive note, I just found out yesterday that my wife had put two 8x10 pictures up in a gallery and they both sold for $50 each... $80 total after gallery commission. What makes this really special is that she's legally blind. In her case, 20/60 vision in the center with peripheral vision about what you see through a paper towel roll, and only has one eye. Not handicapped, and obviously has the Photographer's Eye. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
