July 20, 201213 yr As the title says, which variant do you like more? Quoting the devs. The major difference is in the engines. The B55 is modeling the original engines (Teledyne Continental Motors IO-470 260 hp). The E55 is using the larger engines that were made available during the later part of the production cycle (Teledyne Continental Motors IO-550-C 285 hp). For me, the E55 feels much stronger than one would image with those few extra HP. So far, the B55 is may favourite, flying her like Bernt Stolle recommended, with the carb heat on. I guess the not unlimited power with the four folks in the plane and some altitude renders it more of a challenge. B) What about you? Scott and Geofa already stated their preference in another thread but are welcome again of course. Adding. I also like the two blade props. Looks more old school.
July 20, 201213 yr When we put new engines on we looked into 3 bladed props. Very pricey and a loss of several knots on the airspeed. They look great, pick up less rock chips and are supposed to be more quiet. We stuck with the two blades and more speed....not so much old school as a better choice. July 20, 201213 yr I don't know which one I like more, but the B seems more "easy" to master. I can manage speeds on the approach more easily. Mauricio Brentano
July 20, 201213 yr Author I double that, Mauricio. The B55 seems easier to manage on the approach so far. Interesting input from Geofa on the props. I saw the folks with the smaller piston engines discussing the 2B vs. 3B topic quite lively. Must be the power range around some 260HP which demands for a closer look on the pros and cons when it comes to 2 vs. 3. Easy for us, we can switch them on the fly, literally.
July 20, 201213 yr Is there a way to get it to default to 2 blade props when you load the aircraft? Jim Shield Cybersecurity Specialist
