July 20, 201213 yr Hi, Great tip Jeroen! I had turned my monitor contrast down to prevent eye strain. I turned it back up and Flight looks substantially better. I use the Slide Show theme of Win 7 and have it pointed to display my saved Flight images. I've been amazed each time the previously saved image changes. Each picture seems so much more real than my recollection of the area when I was in Flight. Jim F.
July 20, 201213 yr I had turned my monitor contrast down to prevent eye strain. I turned it back up and Flight looks substantially better. That was my reason for doing that also. I have played with Dynamic contrast a while now but decided to change my screen settings instead, so adding more brightness, contrast, etc. to sort of mimic Dynamic contrast. First of all Dynamic contrast maybe is a bit too much of it all and secondly I don't like the dynamic part in some circumstances: during night for instance you get weird (dynamic) shifts in contrast and color. By changing the settings manually, I get the best of both worlds, I think. (And those settings also work well in Train Simulator 2012, where the dynamics ruined the 2D map view... ) Anyway, the point of this post remains: check your screen settings: you might want to use others then you are used to for Flight!
July 20, 201213 yr RE msg #10, the first pair of pictures you can see a definite improvement. Time to mess with my monitor. Thanks for the suggestion.
July 21, 201213 yr It's a monitor setting, not a GPU setting. I have a Samsumg monitor and for that one you can download and install Magic Tune which enables you to change the various modes through software: that's easier to do then having to use the buttons on the monitor (where you have to wade through various menu's to get things done). I have a Samsung BX2231 monitor so I decided to give Magic Tune a shot this morning. Completely trashed my start-up. It took me a few tries in safe mode and 30mins to get the little bugger cleaned out. The strange part was that when I allowed the installer to restart the system it came up as having not been properly shutdown. I think it was a corrupted install because of the restart that caused the problem. I have 64bit Win7 but, I used the proper version of the program. Who knows what really happen? Maybe the Shadow knows. I sure don't. You're right. I've already got a monitor, and TrackIR should be a lot cheaper than what I'd spend on a new monitor. (The Viewsonic 21" G225f cost me $500 new). Hook Seems pricy. I bought a 22 inch Samsung BX2231 LED back light monitor about a year ago for $139 US. It was on sale but regular price was $149 so it wasn't that much cheaper. My only complaint with it is that it's too low and doesn't tilt which requires my to have it on top of a couple metal tins to get a comfortable view point. What I'm toying with now is the possibility of getting a 37 inch HDTV to use for a monitor and use the 22 inch as a secondary display. I just have concerns with the motion blur using a TV rather than a monitor. Rag Tag Fleet Development Team Member. http://yankeeclippersmobile.com/forum

Ended up rolling back to a Restore Point from the day prior and everything was fine.
