GSX (& AES to a lesser extent) Thoughts

to be dimplomatic .... MCE is spectacular except !!

as a long time user of AES & now GSX - at discrete & different airports - i had developed many sequenced macros (logitech g13) to use each depending whther i'm at my departing & arrival airport (and others for gate selection at the arriving airport).

i have / had no need to worry about doors etc. nor catering after pressing 1 sequenced key (ie macro).

frankly i don't think i need mce to control either aes or gsx ... but i can't stop it interferring after i "manually select" either as appropriate through the macros.

with gsx in particular, manual initition opens "automatically" the wrong doors, doesn't close the correct doors etc.

maybe there is an interface issue between my / ngx's key commands & mce's input .. my guess !!

at the end of the day ... can anyone tell me:

1) how does mce know whether it's an AES or GSX airport (some like I use both)

2) how does mce interrogate the different key strokes (in gsx) ... kord / fsx versus kjfk for example.

3) how can i turn off the mce & gsx / aes interface "completely" so that i can use my macros only (if i so wish anyway .. i argue it is more efficient - 1 key press on a g13 can setup a 15min cycle in gsx whilst you prep for flight without distraction)

PS did i mention, all this experience is on the ngx (only) !!

for now, cheers

Hi mate,

I actually think MCE works best with the NGX and add ons such as GSX.

Go to you mcE config file, there is an entry called "groundservices"... By default it is set to Native... Change this to GSX and you are done.

What will happen is that as soon as you load the aircraft, mce will engage GSX and start the interaction for you.

Call up your ground crew and away you go. I have found that i can ask for catering, boarding, etc. and provided you have set up the gate correctly in GSX, just sit back and enjoy the show. Doors open and close when they need to without you having to do anything.

thanks for your note ... i know it works fine through mce - except for opening / closing the wrong doors it seems.

whatever, i've decided to start mce after pushback and thus use either AES or GSX as appropriate via my macros & hence avoid "the apparent conflict of mixing the different enhancements with MCE".

That is just it, i dont have the problem of the wrong doors?

Maybe shoot an email to mce support, as in my setup it works really well.

The key may be that you need to call up ground crew or mechanic ie "cockpit to ground/mechanic" so you have someone to operate the cargo doors.

If all else fails or for some reason a door is not opened, just call out "cabin crew open/close doors" or "mechanic/ground open/close doors" and they will fix it for you.
