June 6, 200421 yr Some of you may have noticed that today we added a German language facility to our forums system. Basically, by going to USER MENU and SET PREFERENCES, a user can select the language in which they wish to have most of the forum functions displayed in. Though our messages are in English, the forum structure is presented in German to native speakers, which makes things much easier for them. Navigation, instructions and the like are all provided in German. This makes the forums system a much more user friendly enviornment for all members. We would like to expand that to include other languages and that is where you come in. If you are a native speaker of the following languages, and would like to contribute to the community by translating some of our systems files, we would certainly welcome your assistance. Here are the languages that we would like to add:FRENCHITALIANDUTCHSWEDISHNORWEGIANDANISHPORTUGESESPANISHand we would be willing to try modifications in:JAPANESECHINESEand any others that members in the community would like to give a try at.So, if you are interested in contributing to the community, please feel free to download the following file. This zip file includes the base English language set, and the German modifications. Read the English versions and then the German to see how it was done. If you have any questions, send me an email and I will assist to the extent that I am able. Here's the file: http://www.avsim.com/pages/tom/language.zipThanks for any assistance you can provide.PS!!! If you do decide to attempt a translation, let us know in this thread so that others don't duplicate your work. If you want to team up, that's good too! And thanks to all you take this on!

June 8, 200421 yr Tom et team,I'll take a look at the swedish translation. Is there any limitations in use of different length of these translated strings? I know some localisations of Windows GUI can span outside text box borders if you're not careful and keep the translations within the same amount of space as the originals.
