On real 737NG GPS is an option. And I think 99% of all airlines have chosen it, so PMDG implemented this. If you open PROG 1/4 page in FMC, you will notice that ANP number is usually about 0.05, that is possible only because of GPS.

As Chrjs mentioned it's not look like a separate Garmin GPS, but it's connected right to the FMCs.

I'm sure if you just follow the tutorials included with the Ngx, and others people have posted here you will soon work out the CDU/FMC. And I'm certain once you have it sorted you will never want to go back to the default GPS again!

Add this to your window title section, Change the bold xx's to the next consecutive number. Make sure they are the same. These go in your panel.cfg file. Backup whatever files you are going to modify first!!

Windowxx=GPS

Add this as the next window entry.

//--------------------------------------------------------

[Windowxx]

Background_color=0,0,0

size_mm=320,205

window_size_ratio=1.000

position=0

visible=0

ident=GPS_PANEL

window_size= 0.500, 0.500

window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

zorder=11

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 1,1,320,205

This is in plain English :P

As others have suggested, I would very highly recommend flying the tutorials. They will teach you most of the stuff you need (although they might give you bad habits like always autolanding, but thats another topic alltogether)

Ok, I couldn't resist anymore. You do as you like of course, but I think it would be more rewarding for you in the end to learn how to fly the 737 using real procedures instead of a simplified "playstation procedure"?

If you need help, just say so.

I'm having a hard time keeping my mouth shut here.

Forget the code. Read Tutorial #1 & #2 which came for free with the NGX. They teach you how to use the FMC.

Ryan spent a lot of time going through those tutorials which are A LOT easier to read then the actual Boeing manuals that also came with the NGX.

Don't do PMDG or yourself a disservice by Frankensteining the NGX with a taped on GPS display. I know if I was the guy who spent hours writing those tutorials and then seeing someone ask how to duct tape a GPS into the NGX, I would die a little inside.

Happy flying!
