July 30, 201213 yr I am giving VoxATC a try on the 7 day trial period and having an issue with it already. I am able to get VoxATC to work in other aircraft; however, it will only work with the base pax model of the PMDG MD11. I am not able to get it to work with say the China Cargo livery downloaded from the PMDG website. I sent a message to tech support and this appears to be the only forum for support for the product. Has anyone experienced this issue and/or can offer a suggestion for fixing it? Thank you in advance, Ed Edward Smoker Sr.
July 30, 201213 yr Run the indexer again and the panel install tool. Sometimes you have to do that with repaints.
July 31, 201213 yr Author I found the problem. It turns out that the panel install tool only installed to the normal panel whereas I use the widescreen panel. All I did was copy the entries from the normal panel into the widescreen panel and problem solved. The next problem I encountered was a terribly loud popping sound when I pressed the space bar. I use my mic for other applications and have not experienced this problem before. I had to shutdown VoxATC due to the sound. I adjusted the volume setting however, that kept me from hearing the controller. Edward Smoker Sr.
August 2, 201213 yr A few tips for anyone starting out with Vox that could cause problems for you... You need to make sure your navdata (if you use it) is correctly referenced in the advanced settings The panel setup utility needs to be run to insert vox as an option into your aircraft The Vox indexer needs to be run after each add-on installation The voice configuration utility needs to be set up to use the correct audio device ( I route mine through my headphones separately) and voices - look at your audio setup utility through control panel if you aren't sure what device it is. You need to run the joystick and keyboard setup to assign a PTT button to your joystick (I use the same as SB4) You need to have done the voice training in Win7 (if thats what you have) so the voice recognition runs well, and you need to have configured the voice recognition properly within windows You need to make sure your mic is working within windows (The time I spent thinking Vox didnt work properly and trying to find the settings to fix it when it was the bl**dy mic all along doesn't bear thinking about!) You need to set the audio options within FSX to 'voice-off', otherwise you will hear the default ATC as well. If you;ve sorted all of those unless I'm missing something then Vox should work for you :) k Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS
August 2, 201213 yr Author Thanks Kevinfirth; however, as I clearly wrote in my first post. I am able to get VoxATC to work in other aircraft Yes, all of the recommendations you wrote were already set when I read the manual. I have decided against using VoxATC though. I decided to not use it since the pop, when I key to speak with ATC, is so loud it hurts my ears. If I turn down VoxATC at the sound control panel, so the pop is not so loud, I cannot hear the ATC. When I wrote support they explained: That's just the VoxATC PTT click. You get it when you key a mic in a real aircraft. Tegwyn Thank you, this topic may be closed now. Edward Smoker Sr.
August 18, 201312 yr I found the problem. It turns out that the panel install tool only installed to the normal panel whereas I use the widescreen panel. All I did was copy the entries from the normal panel into the widescreen panel and problem solved. Could you provide me the step-bystep on how you did this? I am having the exact same problem, and I am also using widescreen. Thanks.
August 18, 201312 yr Oops! Nevermind. I just redesignated all my MD-11 F's as wideload, and the screen popped up just fine. I really feel stupid when I miss an obvious step like that. Sorry to waste your time.
