August 29, 201213 yr "But the important thing is I'm on the right side of the Pond, well away from all those frightful colonial chappies....." .....And make sure ya stay the He** there!!!!! :P Best, Ray L. (Blackbird)
August 29, 201213 yr .....And make sure ya stay the He** there!!!!! ROFL! And it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr Blackbird sir. The Couch Aviator's Diary - a newbie's journey into flight simming http://couchaviator.blogspot.co.uk/
August 29, 201213 yr B***dy he**! Just goes to show how my faculties are leaving me. I was fooled by the times that you were on post. At least I can console myself that my age is a contributory factor. Getting older is one thing, but someone told me that birthdays are extremely good for anybody..... the more you can pack in, the longer you seem to live! No sim'ing today, but will play again tomorrow with any luck. And it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Ditto with both you 'chaps' (sorry BB if that's another mistake on my part). Lin on laptop
August 29, 201213 yr "And it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr Blackbird sir." Likewise, I'm sure!! BTW - the Mr and Sir are entirely unnecessary....... but thank you! BTW(2) - do either of you Gents remember what the Blackbird was? Would love to see a PMDG version of that.......Haaaa haaa!!! Prob not much flying for me today, either, Lin...... off to help my wife at school. Have a great day, Gents! All best, Ray Landolt (Blackbird) P.S. - Had a GREAT flight yesterday - I know this is MCE forum......but I flew the PMDG MD-11; still one of my fav planes ever - and even better with MCE connected to it - and it works a Treat! Flew from KMHT to KSFO. Good stuff.
August 29, 201213 yr BTW(2) - do either of you Gents remember what the Blackbird was? Do you mean the B1 or the U2, (which used to fly off near our house once and we always referred to it as the Black-Bird)? Incidentally, you may wish to know that the U2 is a refined derivative of the English Electric Canberra (B1) bomber. In turn, I believe that was the first foreign 'plane the Americans bought for their own use. I have anecdotal experience of all of them, and despite the sign specifically Do Not Touch, it's just possible I might have touched the static, retired (sounds a bit like me) airframe in the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Well it's stopped raining in Cornwall - for the time being at least, but reality keeps getting in the way of the virtual kind, doh! Cheers Lin
August 29, 201213 yr Hi Lin.....actually, I was refering to the SR-71 spy plane - known as the "Blackbird". I had picked up that moniker from another type of computer endeavor I used to be involved in........... Anyway...... nice to chat with you. Best, Ray L (Blackbird)
August 30, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Lin have you sorted out your downloads now? Just want to check and make sure you're sorted now Clive Clive Joy
August 30, 201213 yr Clive Not sure; just moved everything into a new shed dedicated to FSim but gremlins are busy with WiFi, electrics, and other obstacles preventing me from following everything up. Sorry for the deviations off-topic. I am just a sucker for interaction. Lin
August 30, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member No problem If you have any more problems, just shout Clive Joy
August 31, 201213 yr Hi alpha117 Delighted to say, I got my system powered up, downloaded from MCE's link and .... hey presto! Success. Le FO prodigue est arrive aujourd'hui! August 31, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Lin, Great stuff at least your now sorted. Just in time for another FO to join our ranks. Hopefully he will pass his exams and should be with us by Friday next week Clive Joy
August 31, 201213 yr at least your now sorted. Grrr, I really hate my electrician and cheap HomePlugs that suddenly refuse to work after a few years with no problems. Devolo in the post; hope that works better!
August 31, 201213 yr It's always one thing or another :-) The good news is that I've found the Devolos to be rock solid, so good choice. The Couch Aviator's Diary - a newbie's journey into flight simming http://couchaviator.blogspot.co.uk/
September 1, 201213 yr Dr V, I'm running out of expletives to vent my spleen! Devolo *Cockpit* cannot even see the dLan I just connected to PC! There must be something wrong with the electrics to my new shed. Heaven forbid its my 'puter. Lin
