Saitek X52 loss of control on landing
Just a thought, but if you were using auto flight previously for say,an ILS acquisition, you need 2 clicks on the cancel switch to isolate the localiser. Maybe nothing in this case, but worth pointing out... Lin

AVSIM member's associated groups
My local FS group meets once a month for nine month each year. We have a web presence hosted by another site and approximately 60 members. Based at Ipplepen, Devonshire, UK we would like to publicise our presence within the AVSIM Community and with that in mind, ask for your approval to introduce groups into the forum area. There would be no advertising involved although a few companies provide us with their hardwares/softwares and take an active interest in us collectively and individually. Our members use MSFS (9&10), MS Flight, X-Plane and Prepar3D plus the usual add-ons, bolt-ons etc. and travel from near and far to get there. My round trip is about a hundred miles, but we propose to start a satellite group in Cornwall next Spring. We know there must be many lone sim-ers out there who might relish the prospect of mingling with others to exchange views and advice in a convivial atmosphere. Hope you can approve me displaying my group details; perhaps even just in my 'signature space' on Avsim. Thanks Lin

Yup! Thanks from me, too. Will download later when it stops raining in Cornwall. Oh, by the way: been reading your blog, Chris... no, not Tim.... got to devote more time to read from start to finish later. Lin on laptop P.S. Devolo now working, but only a red light in my shed - no, not an indicator of services provided by occupants, (as far as I know)!

MD-11 vs 737NGX experience
I agree entirely. Don't have the new 737NGX yet, but prefer PMDG's MD11 to the B744 and that's despite never quite managing to master either. Would never have made it as a CPL in the R/W, but the simulation is great -and demanding - and a real challenge for a dumbo like me! So after all is said and done, the MD11 (or should it be the MD!!) is probably money well spent and many thanks to PMDG for it. Lin

OPUS Weather Engine....feedback?
Hi Stephen, Just dropping into this thread to say.... Thank you very much for your personal dedication to your software, both in extolling its virtues, mentioning certain shortcomings and patiently listening to lots of us firing big Qs at you. You have dealt with it all with with some style and lots of patience. I shall be buying OpusFSX as soon as I can spare the cash, as I (for one) find your support to be a fine example to other commercial products. Thanks again Lin

Dr V, I'm running out of expletives to vent my spleen! Devolo *Cockpit* cannot even see the dLan I just connected to PC! There must be something wrong with the electrics to my new shed. Heaven forbid its my 'puter. Lin

Grrr, I really hate my electrician and cheap HomePlugs that suddenly refuse to work after a few years with no problems. Devolo in the post; hope that works better!

Hi alpha117 Delighted to say, I got my system powered up, downloaded from MCE's link and .... hey presto! Success. Le FO prodigue est arrive aujourd'hui! (sorry, no E acute in this font). Delighted to say this topic can now be closed, with my salutations to all the great contributors. Many thanks Lin

Clive Not sure; just moved everything into a new shed dedicated to FSim but gremlins are busy with WiFi, electrics, and other obstacles preventing me from following everything up. Sorry for the deviations off-topic. I am just a sucker for interaction. Lin

Do you mean the B1 or the U2, (which used to fly off near our house once and we always referred to it as the Black-Bird)? Incidentally, you may wish to know that the U2 is a refined derivative of the English Electric Canberra (B1) bomber. In turn, I believe that was the first foreign 'plane the Americans bought for their own use. I have anecdotal experience of all of them, and despite the sign specifically Do Not Touch, it's just possible I might have touched the static, retired (sounds a bit like me) airframe in the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Well it's stopped raining in Cornwall - for the time being at least, but reality keeps getting in the way of the virtual kind, doh! Cheers Lin

B***dy he**! Just goes to show how my faculties are leaving me. I was fooled by the times that you were on post. At least I can console myself that my age is a contributory factor. Getting older is one thing, but someone told me that birthdays are extremely good for anybody..... the more you can pack in, the longer you seem to live! No sim'ing today, but will play again tomorrow with any luck. Ditto with both you 'chaps' (sorry BB if that's another mistake on my part). Lin on laptop

Cessna, they all look alike ;)
Hi Ken, Hi Ken, You said, *Take a closer look at modern fighter jets.* Well, add the British Aerospace Harrier or AV8b to your list; one of the most versatile of modern warplanes, 'cuz that's another. I am just reading a biography of one of its developers and test pilots, John Farley, in A View from the Hover, in which he gives a factual, amusing and sometimes in-depth anecdotes on just what that plane can and will do by dint of its vectored thrust. The maneuverability of it is incredible! (No, I don't work for the publisher or personally know the author, but it is a fascinating read). Cheers Lin

Hi Ray, Chris, Thanks very much for the sound advice re: Google Chrome. I do use CCleaner on a regular basis, but will make a more determined effort now. Incidentally, FS++ (Bless 'em) sent me an email yesterday with another link, so when I get out to my shed (shack - I think you guys are both States-side), I am back on it. Again, many thanks Lin from laptop

Awesome Online Free Flight Planner (AU/NZ)
Without testing this myself, I must say it certainly looks pretty good. Unfortunately, most of my trips are beyond its scope, but if they produced one for the airports I use it would be more than welcome. Just know this tool is going to make a lot of sim'ers happy. Thanks OmniAtlas Lin

Hi Gerald and Ray, Thanks for replies, but I was not using any dl manager. In fact, I tried d/loading from the hyperlink and again (separately) from the file archive to my laptop via Chrome. The third attempt stalled showing *1 sec to go* but result was just the same... even after more than one hour it was incomplete. Are you sure Jean Claude was successful with and released from his training? He is certainly going to find himself stood on a carpet when he does finally show up; failing to report for duty when duly rostered is a serious company offence, (except when it's me). And a typical Gallic shrug is not going to cut it this time, either! Incidentally, it has stopped raining today, so I'll go out to hangar in the garden later and try again there. Cheerio Lin

Thanks Alpha117. Tried it again since last message and still same thing happens. It's as if the download is waiting to be signed off or something before becoming accessible. Not on FSim 'puter atm, so can't test the other voice yet, but praise FS++ for the excellent upgrade service. Lin
