August 15, 201213 yr I'd like to hear your opinions on this. Wouldn't it make sense to automatically disconnect the mechanic when the GSX/AES guy waves you off? The dispatcher says good-bye when the boarding is complete (you don't have to command him to go), so maybe the mechanic can follow that thinking. As far as I know, the rw folks remove the pin and equipment, then say something like 'see you on the right side with the pin' and disconnect themselves from the plane's intercom. They show the pin, the crew gives an ok with a hand signal and off they go. No? GSX or AES don't ask care if your engine starts were ok, so that step is left out and, after setting the parking brake, they mainly leave you on your own. Hence the automatic disconnect. The reason why I'm asking is that I can see the GSX or AES guy leaving me, but may still have some invisible MCE mechanic around. That's the guy I usually forget about. Sorry to his family. :P
August 15, 201213 yr Commercial Member Here is an undocumented option, that will make the Ground mechanic leave as soon as you ask for pushback. Look for the [MECHANIC] section in mce.ini, and option PushWithGSXandAES. If missing, you can add them. set things as follows [MECHANIC] PushWithGSXandAES=1 When ready for pushback, ask mechanic "ground are you ready for pushback?", he will then hand you over to GSX mechanic and will say goodbye immediately. August 16, 201213 yr Author Thanks, I will try that one. Edited. Ok, it's different to what I've expected. Reason is that if you don't say 'ground are you ready for pushback?' you will run trough the procedure like before, with the danger of killing the poor guy when forgetting about him. Either way, it acts as a solution of course, but I'd wish for an automated disconnect (like the dispatch guy does when boarding is finished) when AES or GSX wave you off.
