August 16, 201213 yr Hi guys, I was watching a show on the History Channel, when all of a sudden a strange plane showed up. please excuse the awful cell phone quality. I thought it was a B-1 prototype, then a Boeing 2707 prototype, but AFAIK that never flew. Any thoughts?
August 16, 201213 yr Hard to tell, but it at least partially resembles the De Havilland Comet (see the Wikipedia article here). What was the show on History Channel about? Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)
August 16, 201213 yr Author Hard to tell, but it at least partially resembles the De Havilland Comet (see the Wikipedia article here). What was the show on History Channel about? I was thinking that too, but the tail threw me off. Actually the show had very little to do with aviation, and it was what the world infrastructure would do if humans just disappeared. I believe it was showcasing the Edgar radar station, and they threw this clip of the plane up here to represent a Soviet aircraft, but I couldn't find anything that looked particularly Soviet. The mystery continues!
August 16, 201213 yr Author 99.9% sure this is it... http://historicaircr...102Jetliner.jpg That looks about right. Interesting how many Canadian designs are relatively unknown
August 16, 201213 yr First flight, 10th of August 1949. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Canada_C102_Jetliner
August 17, 201213 yr Shamrock727 ... great find! Wow, I'm impressed you found that. Btw, as a Canadian, I also find it extremely interesting in that the Avro Canada C-102 is almost unknown in Canada--first I'd heard of the aircraft, anyway.
