August 22, 201213 yr Yes the default aircraft are not very good (in my opinion), but neither are the default aircraft in FSX. August 22, 201213 yr JCOMM.... Thanks for the info/advice. I am off to buy the YAK40 now. You'll hear from me in a couple of days after I've had time to read the manual and fly it for a few hours. I flew a Blanik once...loved it. Thanks again, Jerry
August 22, 201213 yr I flew a Blanik once...loved it. Jerry, I hope you enjoy the Yak. A friend of mine convinced me to buy it, but his wife is russian, so, it was easier... I do not have any airplanes with the "Gizmo" plugins, but apparently there is incompatibility between this older plugin language and the newer SASL-based plugins. When running the Yak, make sure you move the GIZMO plugin folder from the Resources folder! The Blanik was a great glider. I flew the L-13, while Portuguese Airforce operated the L-23 model. The L-13 were grounded Worldwide after an accident in Austria (in 2010) where the investigation led to suspect from fatigue cracks. Hope you enjoy X-Plane as I am enjoying. I just recently returned to flight simulation, after more than 4 yrs away, through the hand of MS FLIGHT, a sim I still enjoy a lot :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
August 22, 201213 yr Has the demo changed at all since it was launched, i tried back then but i did not really get with it that well so im going to try again but take a little more time to check it out than before. -Paul-
August 22, 201213 yr Jcomm... I have the Yak40, and I love it...me being old school...started on round engines. I have some questions: I am using only XP10 (in the USA). *The CAM functions do not seem to work. *The click spots in VC don't seem to work. *The distance to Dest on the LOAD sheet doesn't change for me...Should it? *It also seems to be more pitch sensitive than it should be...is it? If so, how do I fix it? I have removed GIZMO. BTW> Do you have the AN24? It also looks great. Do you know if V2 is compatible with XP10? Thanks for any help. Jerry
August 22, 201213 yr Jerry, answered by a friend of mine who is a long-time expert in x-plane :-): - an24 v2 is brutaly awesome and now fully compatible with xp10 - regarding the Yak-40, the author is also working on V2, a new fully xp10 compatible version (I wasn't aware of that :-( ) He also thinks the problems you mention are probably related to the version of x-plane10 you're using, most probably one of the 10.10 betas Hope this helps :-) All of the best from Portugal :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
August 22, 201213 yr Thanks again JCOMM for your prompt reply. As you can tell by my ignorance with XP, I am rather new to it. I appreciate your help...and your friends help as well. When I was searching the web looking for answers I noticed the AN24 had a new V2, so I assumed this to mean it was NOW compatible with XP10, and perhaps the YAK had not been updated yet. Thanks for confirming this. I am now off to buy the AN24, as Felis' work is outstanding...it rivals pretty much the best stuff made for FSX, only in XP they tend to fly more like real airplanes. I trust this is also an issue with you being an aerospace engineer. One of the great things about this hobby is the ease of jumping international borders. Where in Portugal are you? I am in Georgia, USA. Thanks again for all your help! Jerry
August 22, 201213 yr Where in Portugal are you? I am in Georgia, USA. Depends :-) During day, while working (at LPPT), in the northern margin of Tagus river, and at night in the southern margin, not far from Montijo Airbase (LPMJ) :-) I'm new to x-plane10 too. Last version I bought was x-plane 8, I skipped version 9, and have finally decided to give a fair try to x-plane10, and all I can say is that I am really glad I did :-), I am enjoying it more from day to day, even having very few spare time to play it :-( I would like to find the time, and the skill, to design my own glider models for x-plane, using Plane-Maker and Blender :-/ Regarding the Antonov, I do not have it (yet...) but I've been able to use it on that friend's PC at I was astonished by the level of detail. Again, it takes it's time to get familiar with the russian avionics, etc...
