June 19, 200421 yr Hi Jason,Saddly Route 66 is no more. At one time, it went from Chicago southward to St Louis, then turned west through Oklahoma, Texes (the panhandle), New Mexico, Arizona, and California to Los Angles (I think). Now Interstate 55 runs from Chicago to St Louis, then Interstate 44 goes westward. There are pieces of the old road which still carry the Route 66 designation but most exist for commercial or historic purposes. R-
June 19, 200421 yr Route 66 follows present day I-55 from Chicago to St. Louis, then I-44 from St. Louis to Oklahoma City, and finally I-40 from Oklahoma City to Barstow, California. June 19, 200421 yr Hi Jason.Almost all of Route66 still exists, but it has been segmented, and renamed, into county or township roads... and some of these segments are now disconnected, as the freeways have turned parts into dead-ends.But, some research and old maps could point out the route.http://www.historic66.com/as listed above gives a present day, turn-by-turn description of the route.Dick
June 19, 200421 yr WOW Thanks Guys,Im quite excited to fly this route. Is it quite a scenic route in fs2004.Jason
June 19, 200421 yr US Rt 50 runs from Ocean City Maryland to Sacrimento California. Going through Washington D.C., Cincinnati and many other citys. I believe its the last "coast to coast" highway.US Rt 50 is now what US RT 66 use to be.
June 19, 200421 yr Another way... Fly over I-10. You can start in Jacksonville Flaand wind up in Los Angeles. Uninterupted.Eric AND

June 19, 200421 yr I know this may sound dorky, but would you be able to "drive" now that the roads are contiguous? There were a couple of cool cars and motorcyles for FS2002. The handling was weird though. Is it now possible to make a car act like a car instead of a refrigerator on a baby carriage?
June 20, 200421 yr Route 66 runs close to KLBE Arnold Palmer Regional Latrobe,Pa.Its about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh,Pa.KLBE is also a good place to practice ILS approaches with its rolling foothills and farm land.I often see Arnold Palmer doing ILS approaches in his Citation X.
