Looking for maps

Featured Replies

I am looking for a good chart to put on my wall. Basically something that helps me figure out what airports to fly to, and hopefully add some critical information. I use Plan-G, but having a map on the wall is pretty cool (and it beats white paint!).

North America would be my map of choice.

Any ideas?

Edit: Changed map to chart!

Order a USA WAC chart from either a local FBO or direct from a pilot shop like Sporties

Actually there is a USA planning chart that shows a lot of airport and nav information. You can order it from any place that sells sectionals. It has a big chuck of Mexico and Canada to fill out the rectangle. It makes a great wall chart for flight planning. It has relief and the major airways and most airports.

Try Sporty's if ordering by mail.

If you are interested in a more specific area shown in greater detail, WACs or ONCs are great wall-hangers.

WACs are better (more aeronautical info and still being updated), but be aware that WACs are printed on both sides, so you need two of the same chart to show the whole area when hanging. They show just about everything a sectional does, except for the airspace markings. WACs also are not available for many parts of the world.

ONCs cover the entire world, but are no longer being produced. Some are decades old and they are getting scarce as the remaining stocks are depleted. Some are virtually impossible to find. While they have airport and navaid positions marked, no frequencies are listed.
