Shared cockpit options...
Hey guys I am looking for a good shared cockpit add-on. I would prefer nothing too complex, as I want to learn the other aspects of flying before a friend and I tackle NGX level ac. Any recommendations?

Advice MD82 Maddog, buy or no buy?
That Q400 is shocking. Cannot wait for Pro version. Can you upgrade from Pilot version to Pro for the cost difference?

Blue Sky Scenery
I have Sim Savvy, which has issues with water masking (it doesn't have it). Can I overlay BSS coast portions to eliminate that problem? Wondering if anyone tried that to fix the water issue in SS. Thanks!

FSX code, PMDG evolving...We need an upgrade of FSX
Prepar3D is really the future of FSX. I sort of think they are doing even more than MS would have done. I think MS blew it by ditching FSX. Bean counters took over. Dumb.

Post your FPS! Comparison test.
I have sort of stopped caring about FPS. With my new rig the experience is smooth regardless of what the FPS counter shows. It is all about smoothness. I stopped obsessing about the number. The 4770k + GTX 770 totally rocks.

Best FSX addons
I have UT2 and can show 100% traffic without noticing FSP hits at KLAX and other airports.

Thanks Michael. Is this the best mesh available?

Quick question. How is FS Global different from Sim Savvy? How are you using both?

How much have you spent on FSX?
I am not going to say how much I've spent over the years (don't want to look or know), but I will say this. The next time you are considering a new graphics card, CPU, etc. for FSX, consider the value of your investment and how these parts will help you get the most out of them. In other words, why not just splurge for the 780 or Titan? You know you deserve it. And, you can justify the cost by lying to yourself that it is needed to justify all the other money you've spent on FSX. A Titan can help you maximize the money you've already spent. And seriously, since I splurged for the 4770k and GTX 770, my investment in FSX has never felt so justified. I am seeing this sim the way the original ACES team thought about it. FSX has finally started to fulfill the dreams that the original visionaries had. You owe it to yourself! lol

Interesting Performance Find (VAS and FPS)
I just did some monitoring to see what the VAS usage is on my rig. I flew from KLAX north for about 2 hours, and my VAS never exceeded 2.4Gigs. This was with Sim Savvy photo scenery and the RealAir Duke. My system has 16GB RAM, a 770 GTX and Steve's DX10 Fixer.

Replacing I7 930 system
The 4770k was a massive upgrade for me. I had an i7 885k overclocked to 4 GHz and this 4770k absolutely crushes it running stock. There is no comparison.

Best FSX addons
You may want to consider building your own. You can have a great pc, hand picking the parts, and then just upgrade certain components down the road, if you need to. It isn't hard to do.

Problems starting the Mustang
Hey guys, seems like every time I try to start the F1 Mustang the controls move, but no engines. Maybe 2 out of 3 times this happens. Not seeing it with any other planes. I do see a master caution "sometimes", telling me there is low oil pressure. I am just getting into this thing, so it could be user error or RTFM, but wanted to see if anyone has seen this. Thank you!

Best FSX addons
If I could make one suggestion to the topic starter, I would try to go as native FSX as you can to start. You only need one add-on plane. I would recommend something easier to fly, because you have a lot of other stuff to learn. No need to throw a T7 on top of that. I would forget weather, traffic and just about every other add-on. Just fly for a while first. After a few months maybe start looking at the other stuff. JMHO

License Invalid
No idea how I tripped this one, but today I fired up FSX and notices that the lights outside were like balls. Figured it was a bloom setting, so loaded up the fixer. Now I see everything disabled, but the status says Libraries are installed and up to date. I try to switch from DX10 to DX9, and I get a popup stating that my license is invalid. The one thing I have done today was to install the rest of my add-ons. I installed RealAir Duke, the RealAir Legacy, and the C340 and Mooney Carenado. I didn't do anything else, outside of moving my DX10 icon to a subfolder off my desktop. Any idea how I invalidated my license? One more thing I did a couple of days ago was to activate my copy of Windows 7. I had been on the trial awaiting the disc to arrive with the new product code.

Is DX10Fixer just that easy to set up and go?
I had all sorts of issues until Paul sent me his cfg and nip files. Then it came together quite quickly.

DX10 and FSAA: some personal observations
Hi Dylan, Both are just as you have them. I think I might have solved it. I increased the lod_radius to 9.5 and so far I am not seeing the blurries. The ground doesn't look as crisp as I remember it, but it is consistent now. Not sure if there is a crisp setting somewhere. lol Thanks for the help!

DX10 and FSAA: some personal observations
Thanks a lot Paul. I am using your files, and tweaking things. FYI my 4770k is not overclocked yet, as I just got things setup. I am using Photo Scenery for a test, using KLAX from FSDT. I do not see the shimmering or jaggies now, so well done! Thank you! What I am seeing is the terrain being somewhat blurry and then getting into focus as I fly. But overall the scenery doesn't look at sharp as I remember it with my 5850. Getting around 30fps at 10k feet. I have the lod_radius set to 6.5, btw. Any idea what might be causing that? Thanks for all your help Paul. You are prolific!
