August 28, 201213 yr I like the fighter like feel & performance of low wings. You don't see many "high wing" fighters either. At least, not since WWI. High wings have their place. They are more suited for bush flying operations. I'm not sure when light GA low-wings became "fighter like". We could get into an in depth discussion about how low wings have more dihedral and high wings the same inherent stability for a different reason -- their lower CG. But I won't touch all of that. Suffice it to say a PA28 feels clunkier than a 172. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 28, 201213 yr Every day I wake up praying someone re-did the Flight1 Pilatus PC-12 into a full systems and full featured addon. The old one is def showing its age but still a beauty! One of the nicest all around airplanes ever built! And FAST!

August 28, 201213 yr Hi Ken, Hi Ken, You said, *Take a closer look at modern fighter jets.* Well, add the British Aerospace Harrier or AV8b to your list; one of the most versatile of modern warplanes, 'cuz that's another. I am just reading a biography of one of its developers and test pilots, John Farley, in A View from the Hover, in which he gives a factual, amusing and sometimes in-depth anecdotes on just what that plane can and will do by dint of its vectored thrust. The maneuverability of it is incredible! (No, I don't work for the publisher or personally know the author, but it is a fascinating read). Cheers Lin
