August 25, 201213 yr I don't find that so. I do a lot of low and slow in Flight and find the ground texture resolution fantastic, much better than FSX. On my computer anyway. Weird. The ground textures (for me anyway) look way less sharp compared to FSX.
August 25, 201213 yr Weird. The ground textures (for me anyway) look way less sharp compared to FSX. Same here, although with Orbx scenery, with default scenery I get sharper textures in Flight.
August 25, 201213 yr Author The ground textures in Flight, on the contrary, are the exact same resolution as FS 10, that is, 1.2 meters per pixel. The exact same resolution. Anything else is just imagination. Here is one of the rural textures from Flight, 1024x1024 pixels, just like FS 10: And here is the corresponding FS 10 file. They are not only the same resolution, they are the same file: Thanks, Paul, so there aren't even any straight lines in the coasts. How astonishing is that? Best regards. August 25, 201213 yr Oh well. Are all textures the same resolution? I'm not familiar with terrain textures, but I've spent time with aircraft textures. Textures are usually saved with "mip maps" which are smaller, lower resolution versions of the large textures. When an object is far away, you don't need to try to render the full size texture to get the same visual effect. Sometimes the game doesn't have time or memory to load the full size texture, so you may get the lower res one instead. That's probably what you're seeing when the ground textures are blurry. I got tired of looking at blurry cockpit textures in one aircraft so I saved the textures without mip maps. At that point every texture had to be the highest resolution, and it looked great.
