September 9, 201213 yr Well this is a first for me, not only freaking my passengers out but me too. Flew from KSFO San Francisco to 8CA8 Wallom Field Airport ..Lodi, CA.. I passed over a small hill/mountain area and the plane kept climbing. Even with full power off and a rather nose down attitude, the plane kept climbing and had a very high air speed. See pic. May have to click on pic to make it larger and easier to read. What the heck was happening? Btw, for the lol results here.. September 9, 201213 yr Are you using default FSX weather, it can do that when it does a weather update. Also goes a long with the sudden speed changes and side to side swinging.
September 9, 201213 yr Author I was trying the Ideal Flight demo and it appears that it's weather is set to Normal or Auto by default so I assume it is IF weather?
September 9, 201213 yr Author Did you try pressing shift-Z to see what the winds were? No but now that you mention it I wish I did. Thing for next time if it happens again I guess.
September 9, 201213 yr Well, you did name yourself Adventure Flight Unlimited, seems your passengers got what they paid for... lol Richard... Amateur Pilot and UK Web Hosting Guru 🙂
September 10, 201213 yr Author I give up. It must be IF causing something weird like a purposeful random failure or something. Tried 3 times to fly from KSFO to NRC launched using IF. Each time I get to a certain place and its like some Bermuda Triangle effect causes my plane to crash. This time the plane speed would show fine at 90knots but the plane is sinking quickly like its in stall and the props have unchangeable, very low RPM but engines run fine. I'll try again when I have time, I'm going to turn off the IF random failure first then turn off the weather and see what happens. I find it fun that this happens to the plane but don't find it fun not knowing what or why my plane is behaving like it is.
September 10, 201213 yr Commercial Member Well at least FSpax random failures are always mentioned in flight report so I don't think that's what causes it. Probably it could be indeed weather related... Also AI has sometimes caused some weird stuff to me, though only on final approach & just after takeoff.
September 11, 201213 yr Author Did same route last night with IF weather turned off. No problems or wierdness at all. Appears to of been the weather doing some crazy updraft or something. I see one can turn off thermals and ridge effects. I'll turn off only those and see what happens.
