FSDT Vancouver - New Previews Up (Wait 'till you see this!)

I looked at the dynamic shadows in the parking lot. i see shadows with "humps" cast from flat top cars. this seems to be a result of an un-seen invisible(background-color) I have seen in my self created 3-d objects...meaning, I am guessing, that these are real shadows, off of real 3-d objects...normally a huge performance hit, depending on how many vertices there are....

...taking this to the question, can this effect be retrofitted to other sceneries?...If the same hader/lighting engine is used, as cast against existing real 3-d objects http://webpages.charter.net/hesynergy/ParkwayPlaza/ParkwyPlza05.jpg , http://webpages.charter.net/hesynergy/BHBridge/BHBCycle.htm , http://webpages.charter.net/hesynergy/FarmHouse/FarmHouseCycle.htm , I would say yes....

speaking of the same engine....could this allow us REAL Dynamic VC shadows...bulkhead,knobs,EVERY 3-d object in the VC casting its own shadow... from a REAL light sourced SUN???

just thinkin...'n askin...

The performance hit compared to a traditional scenery with simple textures is not very high and, compared to a scenery that already used multiple layers materials to create buildings (like our previous KLAX) the performance hit of such shadows is basically zero, and doesn't depend on the complexity of the object that casts shadows, like the FSX default shadows do.

The availability of several good sceneries in the area is what convinced us to do CYVR in the first place.

Thanks for the info, so it can be installed over Vancouver Plus with no problems??...............B42L8

Wow guys this is awesome!

Always bringing new enhancements!

Well done, count me in for any of your scenery...

I thought my previous answer was very clear. If not, then of course yes, we tested it with the popular addons for the area. In any case, CYVR being on an island, lessen many chances of potential problems with other sceneries.

timeline wise, when can we expect this?

We don't have a release date yet, but it shouldn't be very long. Surely before the end of the year, otherwise we'll go bankrupt...well, not really, but you get the point...
