You want a VC...?!?

Featured Replies

Nevermind about the ISG, I found it and its payware.  I am going to use a freeware version or the CIVA INS.

I have read your previous posts about the A/P engaging (or not) and I found that  when starting from a C&D saved situation it would not come on but if you load the plane with everything going, it works no problem.  Perhaps this is a clue as to what is happening.

Bjoern, you magnificent fs god! I love this! How you find the time to pull this VC off, I'll never know, but I'm SOOOOOOOOOO thankful.   Hats off to you, bro!

  • Here is RC2, the first "full" (plane+source files) release.   http://www.mediafire...a2zdkpbz1pib4ye   Some fixes and enhancements (see bottom of the readme).   An installation from scratch (i.e

  • Here is RC3. As usual, a full reinstallation and reading the readme (if only the changelog) is recommended.   http://www.mediafire.com/?3omebl30gf3ho6b       (The SDK will be uploaded tomorrow.)

Actually if you load from any saved state (GND Power on, APU on, fully running) the A/P will not go on.  If you start from the normal Free Flight screen and then shut things down, it will work no problem.

Sorry to keep piling on with questions but I have a few after attempting a flight.

1) I can engage A/P and maintain lateral navigation using a freeware FMC.  No problem.

2)  AP vertical control is essentially non existant.  When I engage the Elevator AP the pitch just goes up and up until stall.  I have to manually control pitch which is not very effective.  I can click on ALT HOLD and it will hold the altitude.

3) I cannot control the throttles.  They seem to be full forward until overspeed with no way to bring them back.  Any ideas on how to work this?  Note that I did set up the thrust control and was working the throttles myself for the first part of the flight but then something changed and I could not get control back.

thanks,

See the kneeboard. Assign a key to FSX' "reload aircraft" function, then start a flight, switch into the 2D panel mode and reload the aircraft. The AP will engage correctly after that.

Are we talking SP177 here? Have you read the manual?

Yes SP177.  I have read the manual but probably could do with going over it again.  Let me try once more and then post if I still have issues.  Thanks for the response on loading the aircraft.

OK just to clarify.  I can get the SP177 panels to work, its the SP77's that have the runaway pitch control.  Not a problem I will just use the 177's.

By the way, do you have a version of the Aircraft.cfg that is lined up correctly?  The one I have is just wrapped around in one giant page.

Re-check the SP77 parts of the manual, pages 15 and 16. There is no such thing as "Vertical Speed" hold. Normally, the AP should hold the current pitch correctly.

I use Notepad 2 to edit all my .txt files and they show up correctly (with word wrapping enabled).

Thanks for the tip on Notepad2...I can read it now.

With regard to the A/P.

"When engaged in basic mode, the aircraft holds the last pitch

set...pulling back on the yoke with the system engaged commands the A/P to hold a higher pitch."

In my sim the SP77 does not do this.   Regardless of how stable the aircraft is, when you

engage the ELEV mode it will pitch up continuously untill its going up 6000+ ft per minute

and then stalls.  It does not hold the last pitch and cannot be adjusted with the control

column to hold another pitch.  You can push it lower but when you release it just goes

back up again.  TURB mode by the way will push the aircraft down -6000ft per minute until

it hits the ground.

Note that heading mode works perfectly well, so does ALT HOLD.

I'm just testing the A/P in FSX. First of all, as stated in the manual, "TURB" mode does not work at all and gives me the pitch down you've observed.

The regular modes, however, work like intended. After takeoff, I roughly trim for climb, then pitch for the roughly desired vertical speed. I put the stick into neutral and engage the elevator channel of the A/P, then fine-tune vertical speed by adjusting the control column (NOT TRIM!). When getting close to my desired altitude, I slowly decrease vertical speed and put the AP into "ALT HOLD".

That's all.

What you could try:

1) Check if you have anything else interfering with the pitch axis (FSX add-on, controller, etc...)

2) Enable "Fix Control Acceleration" in FSUIPC

3) Edit the "elevator_trim_effectiveness" line in the aircraft.cfg.

OK, will give it a try and report back.

Due to an inquiry about a certain configuration, I've brought back the Panel Configuration Kit. It's mostly aimed at users of payware gauges, but also includes stuff for G. Smith's freeware FMS (and a note about the CIVA). The main point is supplying panel bitmaps, while panel.cfg configuration is all DIY. Instructions are included.

Hello Bjoern

. In the Avsim library is available airplane model DC- 7 for FS2004 / FSX (with name of the archive "dc7c-kmtggc.zip"), which contains old and no colored weather radar. I liked this weather radar model, it works well. It is a little similar to some others which were installed on 732). What about to install that wx radar into Your model into Your model of 732? So that it was like those which was set, of course. Now I have not the opportunity to try to install this wx radar... Now all. Thanks for answer. Best Regards.

You can do with the installation of the model whatever you like, but I'm not going to ship that weather radar with an official release.

Also, please stop making any kind of suggestions regarding the aircraft. The only thing I am ever going to add is a proper, one-piece manual and nothing more.

Excellent, I will do so.

Ok, I stop all the questions on the model. After adding a manual start learning Dale Carnegie excellent book called "How to Make Friends and Influence People". This book will teach more adequately respond to the greetings, gratitude and good wishes. Your response is not required (prepared above). I wish you success. PS: If leaving only manual - congratulations to the end of work.

Your Wikipedia link points to the wrong "How To Make Friends..." page. Good tune though.

P.S:

This is more of my book. Because having people flood me with suggestions as to what I should put into my add-ons usually makes me worry. And worrying drags me down. But as my therpist told me: "Saying 'no' is totally okay". And fixes the worries and all, so I can start living. Good stuff, huh?
