SIAMAVSIM VTBS 2008 Scenery?

Recommended Posts

Hello UR67393 from Dresden again,

according to a quick search at Wikipedia (knowing that a wiki is not of scientific accuracy) the following airlines use VTBD:

Nok Air

Nok Mini

Orient Thai

P.C. Air

Solar Air

It seems that regarding these airlines there are WOAI packages only for Nok Air and Nok Mini with flightplans from 2010. At the moment I have no access tho my WOAI installer so that I can't say of these plans refer to VTBS or VTBD.

My Orient Thai flightplan referred to VTBS so that I had to change it after being reminded by your and Ians posts.

But there is another fact.

Beginning from October 1st the following airlines will move their activities from VTBS to VTBD:

Air Asia

Thai Air Asia

Indonesia Air Asia

There is a WOAI package for Air Asia with 2008 flightplan, I'm sure that it contains VTBS. After a quick search there are no summer 2012 flightplans for Air Asia group available (the newest flightplan available seems to be rather of 2009 or 2010, excepting Air Asia X which is from 2011), so that all available flightplans will contain VTBS for sure. And it seems to me that Air Asia group will be the biggest and the most prominent user of VTBD.

Technically, I see no other solution than to decompile the affected traffic bgl files via Traffic Tools, replace the term "VTBS" by "VTBD" and to compile the files again. Quite easy for me, as I have all commercial airline flightplans compiled into one huge traffic.bgl with "//" remarks to airline and flightplan period. The decompiled .txt files are saved so that I never have to decompile traffic.bgl to edit them, else I would lose my remarks.

By the way, as I work on the area of disaster protection, particularly flood protection, it was interesting to me to read about flood protection measures at VTBS. It seems critical to me to build an airport into a flood dangered area and to protect it with technical means, as these can fail... but there isn't a real alternative to doing so in Bangkok, is it?

Best regards

Harald

(and greatings to Mikolaiv! Some weeks ago, I spent three hours on Ukrainian soil in real life, coming over from Tbilisi to UKBB and changing from Terminal B to F to continue my flight to Berlin - possibly the last time at EDDT...? At UKBB I did a lot of spotting, seeing my first real life Yak-40, An-140, Il-76... I visited UKBB in FS2004 immediately and I missed AES there very much as wheather was terrible and I would have needed a FollowMe painfully...)

You are right about needing to decompile and change VTBS to VTBD for those airlines Harald. It's not too hard to do - you just paste the VTBD data into the airports file and run "find and replace" to change all the VTBS entries in the flight plan file to VTBD. Then recompile.

You will find flight plans and repaints for all the other airlines that are not covered by WoAI on AVSIM. And it's easy enough to create a traffic file for RThAF movements into VTBD - C130, ATR, B373-400 etc plus some visiting aircraft from other air forces. I've also added a number of random cargo ops to represent charter flights. Even with all this, the airport will not seem very busy compared to its capacity - but that's the way it is in real life. To me it's worth all the trouble as it really is an outstanding scenery in every way. The textures even capture an "old" and very worn atmosphere - brilliant work and FREEWARE!!!

Cheers

Ian

It's not too hard to do

Hi Ian,

I didn't mean that it's very hard, it was meant as technical advice for cases in which the existing flightplans are incorrect. I did it already. B)

Hello Harald! Glad to You.

Hello UR67393 from Dresden again,

according to a quick search at Wikipedia (knowing that a wiki is not of scientific accuracy) the following airlines use VTBD: ...

Yes, You are quite right, electronic encyclopedia not contain inform about all flights in VTBD at this moment- privates, charters, military, smalls... I sure about it.
It seems that regarding these airlines there are WOAI packages only for Nok Air and Nok Mini...
It `s clear. May be commercial AI traffic packages contain VTBD, but may be not. I do not use pay-AI traffic packs. I`ll migration at Flight Gear(FG) flight simulator(but often to fly in MsFS2004) ), now I'm more interested AI- traffic into FG.
But there is another fact.

Beginning from October 1st the following airlines will move their activities from VTBS to VTBD...

...Technically, I see no other solution than to decompile the affected traffic bgl files via Traffic Tools...

At thaiflight.com placed AI- traffic pack with name "AI THAILAND 2010". Look at it. I very busy and I can not experience with him. What is the "AI THAILAND 2010" package for You? Is this suitable? May be over time traffic makers will create more AI- traffic plans for VTBD, both fw and sw... Search all the exact schedule and collect traffic I have no time.

Yes, around Bangkok many of water(I observed at it too), and often heavy rains with strong thunderstorms. Perhaps specialists found any methods for rescue of airport territory, and may be else another alternatives. Perhaps You can understood it... I have plans to fly in Asia at RFP`s B- 742, and I remember about of dangerous weathers, about bad breack degradation on the RW and airport surface.

Best regards

Harald

Thank You. Best Regards too!

Good news) Did You like the UKBB airport? Lot of real flying aircrafts is unforgettable actions. I was long time ago in UKBB, I do not know when I will there...

You can to use another sw "FollowMe" model car, but I do not know about correct action of it, due to afcad of UKBB scenario. It need at tests together. Thank You again! Greetings to Dresden! All the Best!

Good morning,

a question regarding VTBD 2011: Where can I download the scenery? If I search after VTBD 2011, I only find some file sharing sites; and I have some difficulties to thrust such sites.

Hello UR67393,

I was back home very late yesterday and had some problems accessing thaiflight.com, so I will try later. Regarding your question if I liked UKBB - of course I did! A very new, clean airport environment; modern architecture; very busy aprons with many opportunity to see "exotic" planes (in my childhood in former GDR I surely saw Tu-134, Il-62 or An-24, but I don't remember exactly as I was too young). The contrast is even more remarkable if you come from Tbilisi (very small and therefore all procedures are rather easy, and some of the airport equipment doesn't seem to be well maintained there) and fly to Berlin-Tegel (huge contrast to UKBB in terms of architecture, space...). Another aspect - the fancy girls of the border guard... Just one thing - the staff at Terminal B could have a little more helpful leading the passengers on their way to their transit destinations. At Terminal F all was o.k.!

a question regarding VTBD 2011: Where can I download the scenery?...
After registering at thaiflight.com go to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004- MSFS Scenery. I took there.

Thanks to all who helped finding the newest freeware scenery for Bangkok. A last question - does anybody know which gates are used by Air Asia group from today on at VTBD so that I can edit the afcad file?
