Nvidia Cards

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have a question? Can a single Nvidia GFX card support a 3 monitor setup like ATI cards does? If so, which card is recommended.

Thanks guys for your replies. Understand there is a new card on the block. It's the GTX 690. Wonder how good or bad is it? Does anyone have any experience with the card?

FSX does not take advantage of dual GPU cards. The best card for three monitors (for FSX usage) is the GTX680.

Also, if you are willing to spend the extra money, you should go for the EVGA GTX680 FTW Edition. - Complete beast.

Managed to find out. BTW is GeForce GTX FTW 4GB w/ Backplate good or GeForce GTX 680 FTW better?

If you are running 3 monitors, get the 4GB version.

what about a gtx 660 ti

what about a gtx 660 ti

He wants to run THREE monitors... The 660Ti is capable but would give abysmal performance due to the less power GPU, limited memory interface bus, and smaller frame buffer.

Anyone running 3 displays should never go lower than a 680 IMO.

Amen! I have an EVGA 680 LE FTW+ 4GB and I ran it without a hiccup with three 24" widescreens using nVidia Surround. Resolution was 6000+ (can't remember exactly what it was due to bezel adjustment) x 1200.

Now that I am moving to 3x 720P (1280x720) projectors for my full size B737NG Home Cockpit, it should purr right along.

:shok:

You better put up pics when you are done... :Nerd:

I'm expecting a Jetline PC with the GTX 680 2GB for a 3-monitor setup to hopefully be delivered next week and have a few questions:

1.) Is the 4GB version highly recommended over the 2GB? Will it really make that much difference?

2.) I understand the card comes with a VGA, 2-DVI and a HDMI slots. How does one install 3-monitors for 3-DVI or 3-HDMI? Is it a combination of what's available or is there a way to use three of the same.

3.) Is HDMI that much better than DVI?

Many thanks,

1. If going with 3 monitors at high resolutions, having the 4GB version will certainly help. I would highly recommend it.

2. You can use all ports available. If your monitors do not have a HDMI ports, then you can get a HDMI>DVI adapter or vice-versa.

3. Only benefit really is the fact HDMI also carries the audio signal. This is most beneficial for home theater setups but since most of us don't use speakers on our monitors, DVI is as good as HDMI picture quality wise.
