July 6, 200421 yr Opinions on this bird? I don't own any RealAir stuff and would like to know how those who have it like the Scout. I'm wanting a good amphibian for bush flying. Anyone have a screen of the 2D panel? I'm curious as to how it looks.TIA - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired

July 6, 200421 yr I see them, thanks! Looks like a fun little plane. I usually fly the jets or complicated GAs and wanted something small, easy and fun. :-beerchug - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
July 6, 200421 yr I have all of Real Air's planes and I must say that all are top quality. The scout being the most recent also has a few more features than the others. I still personally enjoy the Siai Marchetti most, but you will not regret buying anything from Real Air.
July 6, 200421 yr Hi I have the scout decathlon and 260 extremely good value for money you will not regret buying any of them. John
July 6, 200421 yr Hi TIA,It's even more advanced than the RealAir Decathlon!!!The visual model is superb and the super smooth pilot head movement (external AND internal)is extremely realistic.Compared to the Decathlon the 'tamed' flightmodel fits this plane VERY nicely and I simply love it.Just to cruise along, watch the plane, fly it, do a nice slip followed by a perfect threepoint landing is a very satisfying experience with the perfect FM and gear suspension. Not to forget the sweet float equipped version of course !RegardsBernt Stolle Capt 767
July 6, 200421 yr Author Thanks Zevious and Bernt for your kind comments. Just a quick couple of notes to mention our new "Realview" system which subtley conveys inertia movement in the VC and is fully adjustable. The Scout, like our Decathlon is also fully and properly spinnable, does correct side slips, and has challenging tail dragger ground handling.Nice shots by the way.....Best Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
July 6, 200421 yr Yep, the 'realview' is a subtle but definitly big step towards more realism!!!Looking very much foward to it together with the spitfire :-)Bernt Stolle Capt 767
July 6, 200421 yr Here's the ultimate combination:Purchase Realair Scout and download for free the Airhead Decathlon. Decathlon Download: http://airhead.hfdd.com/airworthy/04_8kcab_downloads.phpYou will NOT regret the Scout especially if you like to slip a dragger into a grass strip! Jump into the decathlon and you would swear it was payware as well.Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif
July 6, 200421 yr It is AWSOME! I just bought the Scout and the Decathalon over the long weekend. I already owned the Marchetti, and really enjoy it. RealAir is very good at creating aircraft and flight dynamics that get as close as you can within the FS limitations! They are all perfect in my opinion. Not to mention the attention to detail in the animations, textures, cockpit, etc.Worth every penny and more....:)
July 6, 200421 yr I have it and enjoy it quite a bit.-It's a small (2-seat tandem) and slow bush aircraft that you can fly out of almost anywhere. If that's your thing, you'll probably enjoy it.-Flight model is supposed to be very accurate and it's quite fun to land, take off or just taxi the taildragger. Better ground handling than most aircraft in FS. Amphib version handles very good within the limitations of FS2004 (water never felt fluid in FS)-Exterior and 2D panels are very good.-The VC looks OK but it's not really flyable from this view. Rob - I emailed RealAir about this some time ago but never received a reply. Is there anything that can be done about the horrible gauge animations? Everything else is smoothly animated - why not the gauges?-A little expensive at $25 - higher than more complex aircraft like the C310. If you want the Super Decathlon as well, buy that first and you get to buy the Scout for a more reasonable $17. -
