October 7, 201213 yr I went to Earth Simulations and Bought their "Treeescpates" for the UK VFR Scenery 1 (South UK). They sent me an e-mail with a link for download. I clicked on it and it and downloaded a file "ESI-Setup.exe" of size 5.83MB?? And when I dbl clicked on it it did squat.,.and the autogens are not installed. No instructions on how their convoluted install process works in their e-mail either. Any ideas how their convoluted process works? Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 7, 201213 yr Author Thats not it. They have a silly backarse process that is extremely vexing. This is my last purchase from them. This is my second purchase after Alderney where I was totally disappointed with their default runway and taxiway textures and now this... It forced me to install some Flash thingi and they have this gimmick Flash BS going on...totally confusing and annoying. Their flash thing has no functions. It adds no value whatsoever. . Keep it simple Stpuid is not something they have heard. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 8, 201213 yr OK - this from memory, so please take it for what it's worth. I agree for starters, with all you say, but... Run that thing and look in the frame at centre bottom, it should amongst all its rediculous flash stuff, give you instructions for install. Then, look top left, click the 'Library' tab, and somewhere up there on the left hand side it will say 'my library'... click that button Look at the list of products and it should give you your Treescapes and a button that says 'mark for install' or similar... click that Now, look top right and you should see an option to download and install from an ESI-pack, rather than install from their awfully slow server, and choose that ESI-pack option. I think that means it will store the download on your computer, and run it from there. HOWEVER over there on the right hand side their should be a frame (panel) with some optios tabs - in one of those you will find the option to change the preferred location of your scenery installtion. Then click install, and go play a game of golf (18 holes), because it takes a whiles. Once you get the hang of it, you can use the ESI starter utility for other of their products and it doesn't seem quite so perverse. One final thing, if you get CTDs whilst starting FSX after this, you need to apply an Autogen hotfix... https://earthsims.us...ding-any-scener Enjoy your trees!
October 8, 201213 yr Author Hi Phil. Thank you. I got it installed. I have no clue what I did... but I did it. Next time I'd have to go over this grief all over again probably. LOL Thanks again. Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 8, 201213 yr "I have no clue whjat I did... " That's the way of it indeed; good for you! Best wishes,
October 8, 201213 yr Oh no, sounds bad. I rushed there too today to buy the isles from the sale, and I was in pains to get those three islands into the basket. Quite confusing web-page. Luckily I did not yet push the buy button and I doubt if I will if the installation is going to be a nightmare.
October 9, 201213 yr The installation is not a nightmare, and the downloads from their server are super quick. You just need to install ESI 2.1, click on the Library tab, and select the purchased product that you would like to install.
