October 9, 201213 yr Thanks for your suggestions. I reinstalled and ran as admin but nothing changed. FPS with default aircraft were 50 fps, fps with QW is still at 20 I found the post you were talking about. I will try that as soon as I get a chance, hopefully it will help. I will continue to try getting REX. I probably tried 10 times and it won't let me purchase. Maybe I should just use HDE v2? Also, how is the ifly 737 on fps compared to your experience with the QW? I really don't want to pay for something again to have poor performance. Is the PMDG 747 similar to the QualityWings in terms of fps? Thanks so much for all of your help. Well, the iFly is a complex addon but it doesn't have anywhere near the fps hit the QW757 has. I won't say it will have no effect on your system - it will, depending on how capable your system is. What I can say is that on my old system that I replaced a couple of months back, I had removed the QW 757 long ago because I was dissatisfied with the FPS in VC whereas I would not have dreamed of not having the iFly 737. I can't compare with the PMDG 747 as I don't have it, but take a look through the forum for the topic iFly 737 and I think you will find very few people who have had any performance issues with it. What addon aircraft are you currently running satisfactorily? That might give some others on here who have the same aircraft as well as the iFly 737 a point of comparison
October 9, 201213 yr Author I have the level d 767 for fsx and it runs well compared to default aircraft considering it Is fsx. Well, if the ifly 737 has better fps than QW, then it's not so bad. If I can't buy Rex (although I really want to) then I guess I can buy another addon. Does anyone know how the PMDG 747 compares to these aircraft?
October 9, 201213 yr Commercial Member For what it's worth, I use REX with ASE in FS9. REX for visuals, weather engine disabled. I certainly enjoy the combination. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
October 9, 201213 yr How the qw has so bad framerates always bugs me, considered it's an "lite" product. That the Captain Sim airplane with very good graphics runs better bugs me... But it bugs is what puts me off. PMDG 747 is visually outdated, but good for systems (may be a bit frame heavy though) depending on your computer. As captkorndog said, I also use ASE for weather, some of rex textures for visuals but also pablo diaz HDE V2 clouds. Personally I think they look better. I uploaded screenshot just for comparision, I bet it's something else than the graphics on QW that slow's it down.
October 9, 201213 yr a bit off topic, in case you haven't decided... If you long for a learning curve, LSH Maddog will make you lost in heaven
October 9, 201213 yr As a long time Flier in the USA and Canada, "Ultimate Terrain: USA and Canada" is my most recent addition, accurately showing the scenery below; Roads, Railway lines, Rivers, Coast, etc... ...and don't forget VOZ 1.8, (free) for all the lovely seasonal texture colours!...>>> http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/502-voz-18-complete/ Paul....FS 2004+FS Nav... :Bug: ...!
October 9, 201213 yr Don't forget Project Tupolev Tu-154M or B-2 freeware either, it's better than most payware in case you're interested in Russian classics.
October 9, 201213 yr Author Thanks guys for the suggestions. Well, I dont know what is going on but the flight sim store is not letting me buy REX so I guess I wont be making the purchase.
