October 8, 201213 yr Hello, I am about to buy the QW 757, REX, and ACtive sky evolution. I have just enough for one more addon. What should I buy? I am trying to choose between Flightbeam KSFO, Level d 767, or ground environment pro (if i get gepro I am afraid of the fps decrease) Do you guys have any ideas? thanks
October 8, 201213 yr I don't think the framerates will decrease if you use ground environment pro. I have all of these addons mentioned above on a crap system. (cheap around 400$ laptop) I would go for the Level D 767, excellent airplane but dated in visuals. Still if you have (or will) buy a 757 you might consider FlightBeam KSFO, if you really need to fly to this particular airport. However there is some bugs with the ILS. Just to clear up, the 757 and 767 have nearly the same cockpit. Yet 757 is mid-range and 767 is long range. P.S, you can create a lot of haze with Active Sky (very realistic) so you barely see the ground as jet airplanes fly very high. Beautiful clouds and good airport surroundings would be a better investment.

When you say there are bugs with the ils, will i still be able to ils land?
October 8, 201213 yr Thanks so much for replying! When you say there are bugs with the ils, will i still be able to ils land? Yes, of course. A patch is in the works. From what I experienced none of the runways had working glideslope which means I had to descend by my eyes (luckily weather was good enough). This may not happen to you, but if it does there is always a posibility to use VOR. Payware scenery with ILS problems really bugs me, same problem was for Domodedovo (igfly)... There the localizer just rerouted my plane away from the runway.
October 8, 201213 yr As Rex and Active Sky Evolution arguably do much the same thing why not drop one and use the funds so saved to purchase Ground Environment Pro? That add-on covers and improves the whole simming world, the frame rate hog KFSO is but one airport.
October 8, 201213 yr I wouldn't buy both REXe and ASA2012 and save yourself 50.00. I say that yet I have both but I originally purchased REX for textures and ASE for the weather engine and got AS2012 at a reduce cost as an ASE user. I much prefer the AS2012 weather engine so if I had to do it all over I, my opinion of course, would just purchase AS2012. Then, ss the Maytag Man stated, get GEPro with the savings.
October 8, 201213 yr Active Sky 2012 is FSX only......... this thread is in FS9 forum. Active Sky Evolution is for FS9 and FSX.
October 8, 201213 yr Active Sky 2012 is FSX only......... this thread is in FS9 forum. Active Sky Evolution is for FS9 and FSX. I stand corrected. ASE and REX textures for FS9. Running too many sims.
October 8, 201213 yr iFly 737 NG series for FS9. Outstanding product and support. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
October 8, 201213 yr I agree with the suggestion that there's overlap between some of your choices and I think you could get more for your money. REX without a doubt is THE most important purchase for FS9 iFly 737 is a FAR better product than the QW 757, but if you want something in that range then even though it's an older product, get LevelD 767 and the Zinertek VC upgrade. GE Pro would be a good choice as it fills in many of the gaps that REX doesn't cover. The combination will revolutionize your FS9 experience. I would hold off on buying KSFO. There have been some pretty good sales lately on scenery and I would keep the extra money to pounce on a good deal. Right now the best thing going is VFR France 50% off but that might not be your region of choice. You will have loads of fun from the new look of the sim with REX and GE Pro and your new aircraft - hopefully the iFly 737 as nothing else comes close. Then in the next few weeks if you see a good bargain, you might be able to get yourself a couple of new addon airports for the price of the Flightbeam KSFO Have fun ian
October 8, 201213 yr Author Well I just bought QW 757 and active sky. I'm flying it right now and I must say it is a very nice plane, but the fps in the vc are not very great. Also, I tried buying Rex at the flight sim store but for some reason it won't allow me to purchase. I wonder if they are having any problems?
October 8, 201213 yr I wish I'd seen your post sooner. QW757 has caused a number of us FPS problems in the VC. There are two things that may help: 1. Uninstall it and reinstall using "Run As Administrator" (Right click on the exe file) As strange as it may sound, in this case it can make a big difference 2. Somewhere on the QW support site is information that you can edit into a text file that configures the gauges to run at a slower refresh rate. I wish I could be more specific but it was a long time ago that I used it to try to make the QW 757 more enjoyable, as the FPS thing really bugged me even with solution # 1 above..... Persevere with getting REX. It is, without any doubt, the most revolutionary enhancement you could make for FS9

Persevere with getting REX. Thanks for your suggestions. I reinstalled and ran as admin but nothing changed. FPS with default aircraft were 50 fps, fps with QW is still at 20 I found the post you were talking about. I will try that as soon as I get a chance, hopefully it will help. I will continue to try getting REX. I probably tried 10 times and it won't let me purchase. Maybe I should just use HDE v2? Also, how is the ifly 737 on fps compared to your experience with the QW? I really don't want to pay for something again to have poor performance. Is the PMDG 747 similar to the QualityWings in terms of fps? Thanks so much for all of your help.
