July 8, 200421 yr I own the F33 and was hoping someone who has both of these planes might be able to give me their opinion regarding how the V35 VC panel compares to their F33 VC panel (fs2004 versions). Is the quality & look about the same or is the V35 alot better and worth considering?...also can you change heading and course within the vc, and read the radios well enough to change freqs from within the vc?Thanks for the helpDave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
July 8, 200421 yr The V35 is every bit as good as the F33. But to put it plane and simple both the V35 and F33 are the same aircraft in FS2k4. Visually they look a little different and have the same options but they both fly the same. If you are a fan of these kinds of Beechcraft aircraft, I would get them both. I own both of them and I'm very happy with the two aircraft... July 8, 200421 yr I agree. Both are fantastic. Carenado does a great job at producting quality aircraft. I own both the Bonanzas, Mentor, Dakota and the Centurion. All very worth while. I never get tired of climbing into the cockpits of these aircraft....
July 8, 200421 yr thanks for the info, ill stay away from the v35 then..i wasnt impressed with the F33 upgrade i had to pay for so i certainly wouldnt want to spend another $21 on a plane thats no better.I was curious to know if their panel development skills had improved but i guess not...carenado has fantastic exterior visuals and good "feeling" flight dynamics...but they lose my interest when it comes to their panel work which in my opinion is outdated freeware quality at best in some cases. Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it!Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
July 9, 200421 yr Author Absolute rubbish IMHO!. The Carenado V35 VC and 2D cockpit view is superb.I have flown the V35 in real-life and the Carenado model is very realistic looking both inside and out in flight-sim terms. No cheap gauges or freeware addons whatsoever.RegardsAdam

The gauges are indeed lifelike, but what I missed in Carenado's earlier releases, like the bonanza, is a clean VC. Somehow, the VC's seem a bit dull, or flat maybe. I haven't tried the fs2004 upgrade, so I don't know if it's better in fs2004.I was very impressed by the mentor though. The Mentor's VC is as good as they come. Not a single shortcoming there. I'm still hesitating to buy the Centurion. I would love to fly it, but I'm afraid it also has the flat dull VC like the fs2002 bonanza.
July 9, 200421 yr Author Glad you agree:-)I hadn't owned the V35 before FS2004 so it was all new to me. The VC is excellent - much like the Cessna C210 VC for FS2004 with realistic windshield reflection and tint. Flight Model is also super. The only criticism is about the engine sound - too quiet - even with the engine slider fully open in the FS2004 sound settings.AdamAdam MooreJAR PPL (A)Win XP Pro - Dell Dimension 4500P4 2.54 GHz - 1GB RAMHightech Radeon 128MB 9800Pro IceQ19" CRT 1600x1200 @ 100hzAudiophile 24/96FS2004 + UK2000 1/2/3/4/5/6/EGLL PROUK VFR 1/2/3/4Ultimate VFR : RealAir SF-260Ultimate IFR : PMDG 737-700NGUltimate FUN : RealAir Scout
July 9, 200421 yr So what's the quality of the centurion? From screenshots, the panel looks the same quality as the Bonanza's. IMO not as good as the Mentor.
July 9, 200421 yr Author I dont think you can really compare the two panels - the Mentor is an old military trainer, the Centurion a modern civilian light aircraft. Both the V35 and C210 have excellent and very different panels. Both are superbly detailed and lose very little in framerates on my system (see post above for spec). My only personal gripe with the C210 is that the tint on the windows in VC mode is a bit over the top and reduces the contrast too much when looking out.RegardsAdam
July 9, 200421 yr Is the fs2004 VC of the bonanza better than the fs2002? I don't have the update, and in fs2002 I found the bonanza VC to be a little low res. Maybe the update makes is better. Do you know if they increased the sharpness?
July 9, 200421 yr Author Haven't owned the V35 before FS2004 but the VC panel is very sharp from "normal" viewing angle (ie as one would look at the panel ahead from the lefthand seat - but I do have very long legs so some may sit closer lol).I'll post a screenshot link here tonight if you want to check it out.RegardsAdam
July 9, 200421 yr Thanks, I would appreciate that. Looking up some specs on the bonanza A36, I'm getting more respect for this aircraft. Actually, my flight in the A36 was my first official single-engine flight lesson. Not too bad, doing a full ILS landing in an A36 on your first lesson, giving the fact that most people do straight-and-level flight in a C152 :)
July 9, 200421 yr Hi,I didn't own the V35 prior to FS2004 either and have only flown it with the update. Nor do I own the F33. I just dropped in here to say that I agree with everything that Adam has said about the Carenado aircrafts, including his comments about the C210.Carenado doesn't include any 'extras', like FSD's Load Manager, or Flight1's Text-O-Matic. Can't say I've flown any aircraft in real life(well, except when I was 5 and 6 years old!). But the aircrafts they make are very nicely done iedeed. I also have the T-34 Mentor and would have to agree that it does has a superb VC.Cheers,JimP.S. What I did when I was 5 and 6 years old was just steer this old Cessna with cloth wings that only went a little faster than the traffic on the highway down below(70 mph speed limit). When I was 6 and at the yoke I was given the OK to bring it on in for landing. But I chickened out when that runway started looming up fairly close. I thought, here I am, 6 years old and I have myself and two other lives in my hands, and it looked kinda scary to me hehe. I didn't actually think about the fact that the pilot, my mom's boyfriend, was doing some controlling with the pedals down below and could easily take the yoke in a split second(I was sitting in his lap) as that runway started coming up at what seemed really fast to me. After we landed he told me I should have just kept steering her on in as I was doing just fine. All these years that I've looked back at that I wish I wouldn't have chickened out!
July 9, 200421 yr just to clarify here real quick...i agree that the C210 panel was VERY nicely done, IMO it was their best panel work in a long long time (keeping in mind ive never owned the new T34)...but as for the rest of their panel work BEFORE the C210 i was less than pleased....if you can post that screenie of the V35 VC in fs2004 that would be super...then i could compare it better with the F33...if its really as good as the C210 then id really like it.Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
July 9, 200421 yr "My only personal gripe with the C210 is that the tint on the windows in VC mode is a bit over the top and reduces the contrast too much when looking out."You may be in luck if Carenado used the same method with the 210 they did with the V35...The V35 has a dedicated texture for the VC windows, with an alpha transparency texture. By raising or lowering the transparency level, you can adjust the tint even to the point of making the windows clear (of course at that point, you also lose the nice reflective effect).I'm not at my simming system, so I can't tell you which bmp controls the effect. But if you open them in turn with DXTBMP, you should be able to find the VC Glass bitmap--it's pretty obvious.Again, this is only possible if they used the same method for the C210 VC Windows....-John
