October 29, 201213 yr Where the hell do you buy your iPhones? For me, the iPhone is $199 with a 2-year contract with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint. Here in Holland smartphones are sold either seperately or with a 2 year contract. An iPhone 5 seperately costs €750, and that's the cheapest price available. A seperate SIM-only contract costs around €10 a month, regardless of the phone you have. In 2 years a contract will cost me 24x10=€240. Add that up to the price of the phone, and you'll pay a minimum of €990 in 2 years. However, just like in your country, you can get a 2 year contract and get the phone with it, however the price will be quite a bit higher, incase of the iPhone 5, a minimum of €50 a month, in 2 years that's €1200. That's the reason I buy it seperately, it's cheaper. However the reason I will never consider to buy Apple is because a seperate Galaxy S3 costs only €450, a total of a €300 less, and it's equal quality, maybe even better. Combined with a SIM-only contract it will be around €700. A 2 year contract + phone costs €40 a month minimum, this makes €960. Not sure how it is in your country, but here in Europe, Apple is rediculously overpriced offering no better quality than Android or Windows phones, infact, you'll find they lack quite some features and quality if you do some research. Don't want to hijack this topic and please don't quote me on this (too much), but I'm just trying to point out that despite Apple offering good quality products, they are relatively low value for the price, and are not made for gaming, and they are not going to run FSX as good as a cheaper homebuilt Windows PC or pre-assembled laptop. In certain countries, iPhones are sold unlocked (no contract obligation), hence the higher price. In my country, unlocked smartphone + SIM only is actually way cheaper than a 2 year contract + free phone, on the long of 2 years at least. Arjen Vandervelde
October 30, 201213 yr Mate(s), why don't you keep your off-topic opinions to yourself and allow the thread to focus on what it was about - running FSX on certain specs. It is annoying having to read everyone's two cents on Apple - and I/we are quite capable of making a decision as to its value ourselves without the classic Apple vs whatever else post that everyone has read and knows the concepts of 1,000,000 times over. The latest generation MacBook Pro comes with a much better processor (i7 IIRC) than the one I have (C2D) and if I am able to run the NGX fine with sliders 3/4 the way up (no traffic, though), then you will be able to run FSX pretty well on the new MBP's. EDIT: My framerate slider is on unlimited, however I do use FPS_Limiter to externally lock FPS at 30. This gives me super smooth frames, no matter what the aircraft. I also use Bojote's FSX.cfg tweaks. Loving my Nokia E72 B) That's quite interesting - I have tried it in the past on my C2D laptop with the FPS_Limiter you speak of, haven't had what I would call huge success - I mean it runs, but not very well! Maybe I'll go back and fiddle with some settings, but it still will struggle I think. Thanks again to those who gave useful input! Cheers, Rudy
