October 21, 201213 yr The faulting module is related to AI aircraft and it removes AI aircraft around your aircraft as you are flying. Make sure you have the latest version of FSUIPC installed as it somehow works with this module. Reduce your AI settings - not above 40%. What AI program is installed? Is the default AI program still running? If you are still having problems, I would suggest uninstalling any addon AI program (none indicated in your profile). Reduce AI settings if appropriate. Ships and boats are also controlled by the acontain.dll so make sure those settings are not too high. Here's at least one post I found on the acontain.dll module - http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11480. Individuals who have had crashes as a result of this module have been advised to completely uninstall FSX, run a freeware system cleaner such as CCleaner, then temporarily disable any anti-virus program and disable UAC, then reinstall. October 21, 201213 yr The most recent error is useless without a faulting module (other than you had another crash). I was actually expecting an NTDLL.dll error in your second crash as that has been what I have seen around the Internet for the acontain.dll error. I suspect AIFP or AES. Disable one, run fsx and see if the problem continues. If it does, disable the other one. Also, have you tried with another aircraft other than the A321X? October 28, 201213 yr Author What ive had a few times now is FSX totally freezing, ill be in Dubai using the default bell chopper with no scenery just AI showing for example, note this has happened in other areas in the FSX world too...and if i pan around in spot view FSX will freeze occasionally which includes a nasty milisecond loop of the engine audio too which crashes along with the screen. This doesnt exactly CTD...i actually can only restart my PC by holding the restart button on my PC tower....when i look to get a report like the ones above the error or cause for the crash arent recorded..... Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
October 28, 201213 yr I now see clearly exactly what's wrong. Reading your other configuration post in the FSX Forum (I think I saw it there) makes me suspect your settings are set way too high and/or a bad tweak. High display driver settings can cause FSX to freeze too. Plus you have it overclocked to 4.6GHz and I would recommend pulling that back to the default and see if that fixes your issue(s). You have a nice system but it can only do so much and it must be properly configured to successfully overclock (did you handle the overclock or was it done at the factory?). Bad memory settings and/or too high or too low cpu voltages will do the same thing too. ASUS has been known not to set the proper memory settings on their motherboards so, if you have anything set to 'auto', those should be changed. Your power supply is boarderline too for the 4.6GHz overclock. I had my system overclocked once to 4.8GHz, had some occasional problems with BSOD's so moved it back to 4.4GHz and now I have seen no crashes. I also had problems with my memory configurations in the BIOS and it took a lot of searching and reading before I found out the problems ASUS had with managing system memory (I had done several stress tests on the memory in my system and all tests passed). With your system, you should be using the highest level profile (X.M.P.) for your overclock then look under the SPD tab of the CPU-Z and see what the memory timings and frequencies and voltage should be. Hope this helps! Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! October 29, 201213 yr You have the infamous StackHash error. Your memory is not properly configured. I have no known solution to StackHash errors other than invoking DEP but that is not possible with FSX. If you try to exclude FSX in Data Execution Prevention (DEP), you'll get a message that FSX cannot be excluded. Here's sort of a layman's explanation of StackHash errors: StackHashes are basically data from programs that are in memory, that is unreserved for that program. You see there is memory reserved for each program when it starts. The data from the program is extrapolated by the processor and sorted out in the processor cache if it overloads the processor cache it is feed into memory addresses that are reserved for that use, for the use of the processor to sort out the program, as it is loading. FSX will fail, or crash when that code is copied into memory and it loses some data. Data loss happens because the memory still has static built up in it that was not cleared properly or it simply ran out of room and over wrote the memory that was previously there, stringing the data together confusing the processor when it tried to load FSX. The hexadecimal code, addc at the end of your StackHash error is the address in memory of the faulty code. It can also happen if FSX pushes the data into memory blocks and can’t remember it did. This is called buffer overrun. It has too much data to process at the time and it overruns the buffer and is pushed into those reserved blocks of memory I referred to. Buffer overrun is not a myth, it is common and most occasions when it happens the memory holds it, the processor knows where it is and what it is, but, a certain small percentage is not. The answer to your problem is to make sure you have enough memory. Other than that, well it is a bug. A hardware/software interaction type of bug. A bug that cannot be solved by any fix besides that. Watch your memory usage levels when you do it, if you can. How much memory are you using? You can simply right click on an item and all the sudden crash, the application fails. It is a clash of data. When it happens shut down your computer for like 30 seconds so that the static memory is cleared naturally and watch your memory usage. One of the things I recommend frequently here is to reset your virtual memory (page file) so that it shows 'system managed size'. It seems to work best with this old FSX application. Several people try to set their own settings and those are frequently wrong or FSX doesn't like them. You also received the Memory_Access_Violation exception code (0000005) and that normally happens with every crash but it's another sign you have a system memory and/or virtual memory issue. As I stated previously in another post, I really think your system memory is not configured properly. FSX can only see about 4GB and the rest is used for system functions. I think your system is way overclocked for your PSU (600W). Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! November 5, 201213 yr Author Hmmmmm im currently looking into the PSU and the overclocking with the PC builders....sorry i hadnt replied sooner, been quite busy of late but thanks for your helpful input Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
November 15, 201213 yr Hiya Brad, by any chance do you have PMDG installed? The reason I asked is as follows, 4 months ago I built a new system and I decided to put FSX in that system, everything went well, but when I installed the PMDG737 the activation did not go through. Few crashes in the FSX but not biggie. After contacting PMDG and waiting for them to fix the activation issue. Once that was done activation went ok but then I started to get the BEX fsx.exe StackHash_addc error whenever I exited the FSX (it was not affecting the flight or anything, just the annoying message at the exit). I decided to re install everything again, OS, drivers, FSX and so on (which is a pain and time consuming event, but I don't think they do not care of your time). This time the activation went through as it did recognize the system as the same system and guess what, no more error messages. This is were it get suspicious of that error message. Had to move the FSX to another system as the other system was getting used for music/video editing and so on. All the installations on the FSX went well, PMDG MD11/747 QW, Lvl D.............except the PMDG737, as soon as I click on activate the window pop up saying that I exceeded the max amount of install allowed (or something like that), again, the waiting game began. Was running FSX without a glitch. When I got the email from the mighty gods saying I was allowed to activate again I did and it went ok....but guess what? The freaking message (same as the previous computer) is coming up. I can say that I have a bad feeling that the little script of the activation game is causing the problem, of course they will deny it and blaim it on memory modules or something not configured right. Now I will have to get the time to do all the installation again from sratch including OS to fix the problem. It is getting ridiculous. Maybe your problem is different than mine, but just felt like giving you some history of my StackHash_addc. Peace! Jay Marin
November 15, 201213 yr Author No i havent brought any PMDG editions for FSX yet, i am waiting for the 777 and then the 747 V2 with the 737NGX at some stage....the only payware aircraft i have at the moment is Airbus X and that didnt require activation. I have been talking to my builders of the PC and they have said my PSU is fully capable of the overclocking they set it too which is a power saving setup where its set at 3.50ghz but will rise to 4.5ghz during gameplay. The crashing/freezing isnt constant but it happens from time to time and the program i use to identify most crashes shows its a stackhash error and then theres the complete freeze that also happens from time to time especially when panning around in spot view....i have to do a hard restart in which case the error is never recorded!! : S Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
December 3, 201213 yr Author I spent most of yesterday afternoon and eveing doing a Qualitywings 757 flight from Gatwick to Ibiza and then Ibiza to Manchester with no errors nothing. FSX worked "smooth as a babies backside"...BUT i today tried to do a flight from the Aerosoft Helsinki scenery and got the fatal Hardcrash 3 times(rebooted my PC 3 times in a row after trying various aircraft!!). I had uninstalled the first version some weeks ago as i saw a newer reworked version was released and installed that...so i am running the latest version of the airport. But its very hard to record these errors when you get hardcrashes....im also occoassionally getting the stackhash crash too still. My FSX settings are set up as recommended by Word Not Allowed Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
December 3, 201213 yr My FSX settings are set up as recommended by Word Not Allowed Hi Bradley, Sorry to hear you are still having some problems. The Aerosoft Helsinki scenery is not framerate friendly on many machines and they have a tweaking tool that you might pull up and maybe turn off some of the tweaks or change your FSX.cfg settings. If you like your current fsx.cfg settings that you used for your earlier flights, I would go into the FSX settings page (when you first start up FSX) and save them as "MyBestSettings". Then go to Customize and change everything to default on each tab (okay, you can do some minor adjustments to the default). You can name that config as "Helsinki". So now, when you are flying those earlier flights, you load MyBestSettings and when you want to go to Helsinki, load that config. Word Not Allowed's config is extreme for many systems. You better have a high powered system (and I see you do!). Yet, when you fly into 'unfriendly' territory like Helsinki, you're going to have to compromise a little. Now those settings I asked you to save will still have all the tweaks in Word Not Allowed's guide but any default settings will be adjusted. You should at least try it. StackHash errors are memory related. FSX can only 'see' 4GB and anything more is given to your system to run your computer. This is why it is important to have more than 4GB of memory. For Helsinki, I would follow the guidelines of Aerosoft for your settings. You are getting closer to perfection.... Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 5, 201313 yr Author Has anyone else noticed that hard system crashes in FSX (sim play freezes and can only be fixed by hard reboot) happen when being in places where taxiing in snowy areas cause the user aircraft to create a snow blast effect behind the wheels?? Im getting this at Helsinki and Archorage Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
