LSH MD-80 question

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm new with the MD-80 bird. I didn't find it's ground speed display on the panel. Does anyone have an idea where it is?

Thank you.

Thanks for the answer anyway. But the GS on the PFD does disappear when I'm on the ground taxing... any solutions?

Thank you.

Believe its normal?

Modern airliners all have GS display on the ground… No sure about the MD-80.

True, it isn't alive when you taxi. I have to check it later, but I think the FMC gives you a ground speed value. Wait, that's on the IRS equipped plane. Well, I have to check later, it's all from memory.

So I've checked what the FMC can give you. Indeed, there's a GS value at the POS page 2, but it fails to deliver proper data I guess. 450 kts while lining up. :O

At cruise, it shows proper values.

Looks like it refuses to show anything below 450kt?

Maybe. I've never cared for the GS while taxiing so far, I must admit. I've just tried to keep her slow-ish so to speak. Side note. Please don't full quite the pictures. Makes the thread very long.

The thing still amazes me. The failure sim just gave me a slowly (pressure) leaking fuselage. Nice detail.

How do you like her so far, being new?

Not all new, but recently picked her up again. It would be really nice if LSH could come up with a Maddog 2012/13. Model, VC, camera views really call for an upgrade. But the system is really nice.

One more question: the auto brake never worked. I have enabled it in the Maddog load manager. Not sure why.

Thanks.

If the autobrake switch is there and visible, it should work. Mind the conditions though. And disable failures, just in case.

I would love some updated model too. And some cockpit windows.

Where are you flying yours? I'm on some Alaska to Canada routes these days. It's cold.

Careful with that! I got icing last time I flew in Alaska on the Maddog and there was a lot of frantic fiddling to recover!

I absolutely love the simulation depth in that aircraft package.

I do European country hops in the MD, great great fun, Sometimes also within the U.S. I don't know if any U.S. carrier still flies the MD-82. (AA has a lot of MD-83 and delta MD-90?)

Zicheng Cai

Ha, good point on the icing. Guess who was fighting some of it a few minutes ago.

Mmm, who flies them these days? Good question. I only recall the same carriers as you, AA and Delta in the US. Is that still current? I fly all of them, even fictional liveries. Avsim library has quite some. There's a bare metal one for example.

I love the lights on that bird. The VC ones. All of them adjustable and things. Nice.

Oops, my ND just quit. :O I'm lost, lol.

AA has more MD-82s than MD-83s actually. 107 MD82s according to wikipedia. I also love this plane and I'm still getting amazed about how damn good it is. Its the most enjoyable plane for FSX for me.
