FSBuild integration

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I couldn't find any information on this in a search, but being fairly new I'm thinking this is not there yet?

Is there plans to add FSBuild integration for the winds or to output to a file that FSBuild can read?

For example, when I build the flightplan and fuel plan, it takes the weather output data from my current weather program, and it takes this into account for the fuel plan.

I end up with very accurate timings and fuel figures.

This is one of the things I would be hoping for before buying.

Also historical weather, but I understand it's already been discussed

That has been asked on the F1 Opus forum Dan, I believe it would be up to the developer of FSBuild to implement. After all, any additions to FSBuild can only be done by him.

That's true, unless Opus can export in a format that is already readable by FSBuild then it could work straight away.

I don't know if anyone "owns" the file formats but that may be a concern

edit: I do see something on the website about using another weather source, I wonder if I can use AS to get my winds and FSBuild data, then feed that to Opus for the depiction in FSX.. I have some reading to do.

Just a thought, but all Ernie (FSbuild) needs then is the info from Stephen. We will have to get them to talk to each other. :)

Yeah although FSBuild hasn't been updated for a long time, however it's probably because it already does what it does extremely well.

I don't know the status of winds aloft though, I have some more reading to do in this forum

I'd buy Opus if it would work with FS Build!

Why bother integrating with dated, very lousy supported software like FSBuild? I gave up waiting for help on their support forum and bought FS Commander instead. FS Build went into my trash can immediately thereafter.

PFPX will be the replacement for flightplanners when it is eventually released.

FS Commander is great, but for fuel calculations, I can't use it. FSBuild does a much better job once you have an aircraft profile in place. Also, FSC doesn't factor winds aloft into the flight plan. I use both but would actually discard FSC before FSBuild.

It's a big deal for me, I won't buy another weather engine if it doesn't at least give me an average wind component that I can plug in to FSBuild. As noted above PFPX is an interesting project and the same developer also makes Topcat, which also knows how to pull weather from the same existing weather engine as FSBuild. It's a great idea to allow them to talk to each other.
