November 1, 201213 yr Hi I boarded the dx10 ship some days ago and I'm quite happy so far. Many Thanks to Steve and Paul and all the others in this forum who made it such easy to use and enjoy fsx now in dx10 mode. I actually needed about one hour to get it to run. Bush flying with Carenado's C172 or C208 in ORBX-FTX areas/airports is simply great now. Some smaller issues I have: Even with constant 30 fps I get those micro stutters every 5-10 sec. Is there a solution? When ac self shadow are enabled, I get those jagged shadow lines in VC. I guess this is a known AA bug and the only solution is to leave ac self shadows off. Right? Is there anything what can be done against lights dimming on and off at night? Water reflections of ships and boats look strange (blinking/shimmering) (water setting at 5) The water reflection of stars at night looks also strange. Is there a way to reduce this effect? November 1, 201213 yr Post your fsx.cfg here, Harry. November 1, 201213 yr When ac self shadow are enabled, I get those jagged shadow lines in VC. I guess this is a known AA bug and the only solution is to leave ac self shadows off. Right? You do have AA enabled in FSX don't you? I saw those jagged shadow lines too until I enabled AA and AF inside FSX. In any case you're in good hands with Paul (and I will be checking your config out too). I recently went astray and did not fully copy the settings others had made here (and is now posted in the pinned HowTo document). I was having some really ugly VC's. I then pulled down the latest settings and I was totally in shock! They worked for me. LOL. I have to agree with you though that the VC shadows are not as 'neat' as the DX10 shadows on the outside of the aircraft and on the wings but they are better. November 2, 201213 yr Here you go, Harry: Hope this one helps. The changes are taken from my very best cfg, and gives me 29.9 - 30 under almost any load. For NI - I'm using NI Bumpy's "Bioshok" version here.. ..and giving these results here.. These pics were taken Sept 9, so they're quite old, and were done checking weather and cloud. Ignore the SEA at the end, as there's no AI. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 2, 201213 yr Author "Here you go, Harry: Hope this one helps. The changes are taken from my very best cfg, and gives me 29.9 - 30 under almost any load." Thank you Paul. But I could not find any changes regarding the fsx.cfg. I'm also using the NI Bioshock version from verybumpy, but will check this again more carefully. cheers, Harry - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
November 2, 201213 yr I DIDN'T ATTACH THE FSX.CFG!!! HOW STOOOPID CAN I GET!! I just got back from town and just read the posts.... Duh!! I'm sorry Harry! All I put were the Inspector settings.. November 2, 201213 yr Author Thank you very much Paul this is very kind. I will report back tomorrow how it works. Currently I'm moving the whole FSX/P3D partition (>400G) to a new HDD cause my current one is getting too small. Together with defragmentation this needs really some time (8 h meanwhile...) :Waiting: Cheers, Harry - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

November 10, 201213 yr Curious of the OP ever got rid of his DX10 stutter? I too am finding good frame rates but hitching or stuttering going on.
November 11, 201213 yr Author Curious of the OP ever got rid of his DX10 stutter? I too am finding good frame rates but hitching or stuttering going on. I still have some stutters. But it seems that it also depends from the area in which I fly. I am using dx10 mode only when flying in FTX NA in a carenado c208 or 172. Some areas are more stuttery other are less. Scagit Rgl/Anacortes and Hervey are worst other are much better. Maybe to reduce settings would help, but I don't like to play with settings during a flight, Cheers Harry - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
