November 7, 201213 yr After I collected the aotd on Fire Island and landed at the airport, out of curiosity I checked the job board. There was a short cargo flight to Wasilla Creek Air Park (05AK) so I decided to take it. Nice flight in the CC between 1500 and 2000 ft. with a 14kt. crosswind. About 14 miles short of 05AK, I look down and saw this: Just look at the detail. Cars in the parking lot, the fairways, greens, and traps, the fall colors, the complex buildings. I keep being amazed at the work that went into the graphics of this sim. Thank you. November 7, 201213 yr The 18th green looks like another great spot for a "walk-up aerocache". As I have been exploring the hundreds of airports in Alaska, I have been keeping a log. I have been scoring them on the amount of interesting detail I find. There are some gems. It always makes me think what could have been. I'm glad there's lots more exploring to do.
November 9, 201213 yr We had a pretty large debate about this back when we accidentally discovered the AMAZING detail just southeast of Kodiak airport. You can get out and walk into store entrances that have trash cans, recycling and door handles. You can see the sweeper trucks and they even have port-a-john's. We never decided why some spots have this complex detail and why some areas have trees when it is basically barren. Same seems to be true here too. You have the standard forestry which does not look quite accurate for the region and then this circular golf course with pristine detail. Wish people were still around to answer these questions.
