November 11, 201213 yr I Can really use something like this for FS2004 Does anyone know where i can find a similiar program like this for FS2004 Or something that will help guide me through the taxiways in fs2004. Getting to the runways is not really challenge i have fs nav. but pressing f9 to switch over and over is exhausting http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6X8okmqrsGI
November 11, 201213 yr That product works for both FSX and FS2004. I use it for both sims. http://www.dbsim.com/aptgps/dbs.aptgps.htm
November 11, 201213 yr I have it also but for some reason, I have great difficulty in getting it to work. Sometimes it does - most of the time it doesn't... Anybody else have a problem with this???
November 11, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the tip....... i dint realize that :dirol: Would you recommend what are your thoughts, Also if anyone else has use this product what are your thoughts I have also found this http://www.avsimrus....on=download&hl= but unfortunately according to the reviews it doesn't work well with 764 bit. Im looking for something hat will help me navigate through airports when i recive instructions from ATC In VATSIM ome airports dont have signs and charts are to time consuming for me to read lol I have it also but for some reason, I have great difficulty in getting it to work. Sometimes it does - most of the time it doesn't... Anybody else have a problem with this??? :-( guess im going to have to find another way to familiarize myself with airport taxiways lol. There must be something out there that can simplify things a bit
November 11, 201213 yr I just use the top down view in FS9 if I'm not sure where I am going and save $14.95 by not buying DBS Airport GPS.. Simple - and it works every time! David
November 11, 201213 yr Author i just tried Airport guage chart on my fs9 on my 32bit windows 7 and its pretty good list all the taxiways, ground frequency, tower frequency ect ect its more for finding taxiways cause it lables them for you including parking spots, but it doesn't work on 64bit windows thats the downfall. Its a shame cause i find it more useful then Airport GPS and best of all its freeware I would really like to find something like Airport gauge chart to use it on my 64bit cause that machine is much more powerful then my laptop.
November 11, 201213 yr Airport charts, such as Navigraph's nDAC 3, are ideal for what you want. They don't care what OS you use. They can be printed out (at various manifications) They can be viewed on screen (oe various monitors) like latest pilots aids Therefore they are realistic. The other 'helpful' utilities aren't.
November 11, 201213 yr One of the problems with FS is that you have fewer physiological cues to help orient yourself than you do in the real world. So it's not a bad idea before you start up or before you call for taxi clearance, to switch to the overhead view and use the progressive taxi option to help orient yourself before you push out of the gate. Another option, if you have AFX or use AFCAD and have an extra monitor, is to pull up that airport and use the lock view option. It may seem like cheating, but it's more or less what the PNF would be doing with the airport chart in his/her hand....
