Uninstalling FS2Crew (temporarilly)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently purchased and installed FS2Crew PMDG 737 NGX Captain's Set and now in the process of learning to use it. However, in the last few days, something somehow corrupted a file in my PMDG 737 aircraft folders (or something related to PMDG aircraft). See attached image. The only way I know to try to resolve the issue is to uninstall and reinstall the PMDG NGX package. Before doing so however, I thought I should temporarily uninstall FS2Crew which I did. After the uninstall process, I was automatically sent to the FS2Crew web site to inform me 'Sorry that you uninstalled FS2Crew . . ., or words to that effect, with a note concerning the need to manually delete remaining files. Here's the text of the note:

"Uninstall Notes:

1. (Optional) To completely remove FS2Crew2010 (and all associated editions off your computer) you will need to manually delete the FS2Crew2010 folder located in your root FSX/FS9 directory, Program Files folder and in your AppData folder.

2. Except for the iFly 737 version, the FS2Crew uninstaller will automatically attempt to restore the host aircraft's panel.cfg file to its pre-FS2Crew state. If using the iFly 737 version, run the iFly 737 Config manager and uncheck 'enable FS2Crew'."

The only file I could find is the FS2Crew2010 folder inside the FSX directory. Do the other files under 'Program Files' (or Program Files (x86)) and 'AppData' folder actually exist and I just can't find them? A search has not surfaced any files.

The deletion of these files may not be required but to be on the safe side, I thought that I'd delete everything so that nothing could possibly interfere with a reinstallation of FS2Crew once I've installed the PMDG aircraft (both 6700 and 8900 series).

Thanks for any clarification.

JJ

Hi JJ,

Something is clearly messed up with your NGX.

I'd send a support ticket to PMDG.

To view folder in APP DATA, make sure you check "Show hidden files".

Don't worry though... if you do a clean install of the NGX, FS2Crew won't load at all because there will be no FS2Crew entries on the NGX's panel.cfg file.

Cheers,

Bryan and Peter,

I'm running W7 Prof 64 and have proceeded to reinstall the PMDG aircraft. Everything's back to normal but I still don't know what caused it. Corrupted or missing font(s) does seem to be an appropriate analysis. I'll now proceed to reinstall FS2Crew later today.

Thank you both.

Regards,

JJ

p.s. Bryan, what is Metro?
