November 15, 201213 yr Did anyone notice how high the plane was when the gear were lowered 0_O I thought the landing gear is usually lowered at about 2000 feet. It looks about 6000+ in the video, or is it just me??? Maybe they did it for the purposes of this video, although such would be weird. The following video is from a B747, and the gear opens above the clouds, although the actual radio altitude might be slightly lower:

I didn't see that video before, thanks for sharing Is it not really expensive to lower the gear that early though just for a video, with regards to the cost of fuel? November 15, 201213 yr Is it not really expensive to lower the gear that early though just for a video, with regards to the cost of fuel? I would imagine so. That's why I was doubting that idea, but if you observe, the pilot in the B747 video also leaves the gear out for quite a long time after takeoff (compared to normal takeoffs). And there's this one, which really shows the smoke that comes from the tires of the B747 during landing:
November 15, 201213 yr Looks incredible - but the full DVD will probably be fully German spoken :-( They are subtitled, I have their Swiss A340 Shanghai DVD and had no issues and I love how their dvd's make you feel more like a jumpseater than other makers. November 15, 201213 yr I love how their dvd's make you feel more like a jumpseater than other makers. Yes! I love the multiple viewpoints. JustPlanes are also beginning to incorporate that style of film-making

Or something along those lines I hope somebody makes more of these type of videos, they're EPIC! November 15, 201213 yr After a lot of braking during taxi, you have to left the gear out for a longer time to cool it down by airflow. This, to prevent overheat or fire in the gearbox. Peter Frey LSZH

November 15, 201213 yr Awesome preview! Pilotseye produces really nice video's. Looking forward to this one... Michar Breems
November 16, 201213 yr Actually the pilot did it just because he could. Interesting. . . . I've never heard of a pilot using the alternate gear system for such purposes!
