November 21, 201213 yr I used Google Earth to find this one. Once I had a good idea where it was, I flew from Nenana where I parked last time. Pleasant flight down the river. Tune the VOR so you know about how far away it is. Once I got to the VOR, I looked around for something that wanted to look like a missile tracking base. No antennas, but it was fairly obvious, especially if you look at the AotD picture. Gotta love the flight characteristics of the Maule. For most of the flight down the river, I had the pitch trimmed for 1500 feet, had the fuel trimmed to fly level, and did all my steering with the rudder, not touching the yoke at all. If you're gentle, the turns are even coordinated. This is a good way to learn to use the rudder. Notice how you lose some altitude in a right bank, but not necessarily in a left one? How cool!
