SP2 P3d problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I am having trouble with AS2012 SP2 and its support for P3D. I am running P3D only on my system, and I have used the FSX migration tool to install some add-ons that do not directly support P3D. Among these were AS2012.

After installing SP2 I get the choice between fsx and p3d when starting application, but in either case I get the following error message.

A critical error occured: Application failed to load - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

This is without having enabled virtual FSX, so everything is the stock P3D. If I enable virtual FSX so that it sets up links to the corresponding FSX files I am able to run AS in FSX mode, but still not P3D mode. I have tried reinstalling SP2 to no effect.

Is anyone else seen this, and do you have any possible suggestions?

Edit: I even did a full reinstallation of the full thing, but it didn't help.

Thanks,

kolaf

AS2012 needs to be installed with the fsx2p3d tool OFF. You can enable it after the install. My setup is like yours, no FSX installed on system and it works perfectly.

Try uninstalling AS2012 - reinstall with FSX virtual folder DISABLED - then enable it and runnAS2012.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this is exactly what I tried the first time. I even went ahead and uninstalled everything, made sure that the virtual folder was disabled, and reinstalled. I still have the same problem.

Wait, do you mean that it has to run with the virtual folder enabled, even for p3d mode? I thought it would support p3d natively with sp2.

Since I have other add-ons that need it I aways have it enabled UNLESS I am installing a native product. SO no, for AS2012 alone you do not need it enabled

I run with P3D, install AS2012 with migrator off and virtual fsx off. Once install is complete, apply the SP2 beta without running AS2012 yet.

Once the SP2 has installed, run AS2012 and it will ask what sim you run. Select P3D and away you go.

Again, this is exactly what I have tried multiple times, and every time I get "object reference not set" after choosing p3d.

Please try B4722 just posted, and if you continue having issues here, a support ticket with a log export would help us identify the issue. http://support.hifitechinc.com to create a ticket. Thanks!

Damian,

After posting a "ticket" do we get an automatic e-mail when their is a response from you?

Also, I think I may have signed up a second time .. on accident.

Could you check (if it causes a problem).

Yes of course you will get an e-mail on response, should have received this long ago...
