November 27, 201213 yr I sure hope this is a rumor...... Just shows how Intel is beginning to cater to the average joe who wants their computer fully built/functional without having to lift a finger... Also is really starting to show in our society as a whole. Link
November 27, 201213 yr Seems like dark times ahead for our community on multiple fronts. Times are changing. Our era is coming to its end.
November 27, 201213 yr If they go that way will give AMD a chance to turn themselves around, produce a decent chip and create a nice niche market. Will be interesting to watch. Randy Swofford
November 27, 201213 yr I guess the Haswell will be the last upgrade I make for a long time, might as well buy the extreme... and then just hope that AMD takes the plunge and takes over the market. They will love it. I remember reading on AnandTech recently that AMD are planning to leave the enthusiast CPU market and focus more on that SOC and ARM stuff. Currently their CPU division is losing a lot of money for them. I'm not sure why they can't produce a chip as fast as Intel's. Is it lack of engineering expertise or resources? I'd have thought their engineers would be at least as good as Intel's. EDIT: Read about it here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5503/understanding-amds-roadmap-new-direction
November 27, 201213 yr Just shows how Intel is beginning to cater to the average joe who wants their computer fully built/functional without having to lift a finger Link Isn't that why Dell exists? Or even Apple? Eventually, PCs are going to become dumb terminals, connected to the cloud with a Google OS, possibly without a hard drive (or a low capacity flash drive). Scary times indeed. A.J.
