November 29, 201213 yr I've just purchased EFB on-sale @ PC Aviator and was wondering if it is possible to run it over the network. I have my primary PC running FSX only and intend to run REX and hopefully EFB on my secondary computer.
November 29, 201213 yr Yes you can, EFB needs the data provider installed on the FSX machine, then you can put the display unit on another computer. You just need to make sure the port number is the same on both pieces of software in the settings, and the rest is gravy. Jim Shield Cybersecurity Specialist
November 29, 201213 yr Author Excellent, thank you! And just for the sake of clarity, what do you mean by data provider? FSX? A 3rd party info service like navigraph?
November 29, 201213 yr The data provider is a component of EFB that you install on the same machine that hosts FSX. When you run the display unit on another machine (or the same), the display unit will request the data from the data provider. The data provider uses navigraph data as well as FSX scenery data to respond to the display unit. So navigraph updates get installed on your FSX computer. Jim Shield Cybersecurity Specialist

I think the OP is talking about another EFB,http://www.pcaviator.com/store/product.php?productid=19231&cat=705&page=1 not the other EFB from Avilasoft. So the info you gave him I believe is wrong?

November 29, 201213 yr Author Ooh, didn't see that, it's FS Widgets. Is that one worthwhile or should I get a refund? Thanks for the catch egguzman!
November 29, 201213 yr Ooh, didn't see that, it's FS Widgets. Is that one worthwhile or should I get a refund? Thanks for the catch egguzman! No problem Techguy Well, The Aivlasoft EFB is better but more expensive. See link here.... http://www.aivlasoft...cts/index.html. I think is $70US There is a demo you can try for 30 days. I tried it and it is good and you can run it on a second CPU. I didn't buy it due to the cost..Too much for my budget. But I think this is what you are looking for. Hope this helps
November 29, 201213 yr Aivlasoft EFB is worth every dime of the admittedly high purchase price. Keep your ears to the ground though, every so often it goes on sale. That's when I purchased mine. Rick Hobbs
November 30, 201213 yr Author Thanks again for all the info guys, I think I'll return this one and wait for Aivlasoft's EFB to go on sale. Edit: looks like it actually is on sale right now @ 20% off for $55.20. Quite a bit more than the one I've purchased, I think I'll wait until I get my second PC fully configured before I buy secondary add-ons like this.

Another member of my VA has this and has been unhappy with it. He finally decided to buy AivleSoft EFB. His only regret was not buying AivleSoft EFB in the first place. Sadly he could not get a refund because he was outside that window. Edward Smoker Sr.
