FSX Scenery Library names of each area not showing.

Featured Replies

I am running FSX with Windows 7 (64 bit).

I have suddenly found that when I go to FSX Scenery Library, the names of each area are not shown.

The scenery is still loading and running fine. However the Title line have disappeared from the scenery.cfg file.

I have attached a pic of the Scenery Library.

Any suggestions how to correct this ?

TIA

There's an earlier identical thread, here:

I hope this isn't a new trend or some kind of bug starting to spread. Perhaps post in the other thread what your last installations were. It's strange to see two guys coming up with the same problem independently of each other. :(

Hi Guys

I have posted to the post mentioned above.

See: http://forum.avsim.n...n&topicID=40318

The problem seems to be that the "TITLE=" line is missing from all the scenery areas in the scenery.cfg file.

Maybe you could try deleting the scenery index from FSX, it will build a new one.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

Scenery.CFG

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

Scenery.CFG

While it may create a new one (based on the template version of it from the main FSX folder), it will not contain anything but the default FSX entries i.e. if you have installed any add-on scenery it will not be listed or hooked into the FSX Scenery Library.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies.

I managed to find a backup FSX scenery.cfg file and updated it so problem solved.

The problem arose one of the times when I tried to add scenery via the FSX Scenery Library window where you have to click in the middle of the window because of the FSX bug. After this operation all of the "TITLE=" lines had gone from the scenery.cfg.

I have 170 areas in current scenery.cfg file.

When I added scenery via the FSX Scenery Library window, I saw the scenery titles were blank but I still clicked on 'OK' button and that is when the problem started as this seems to have deleted all the "TITLE=" lines.

What I should have done was click on the 'CANCEL' button and try adding the scenery again.

Thanks for your replies.

Isn't there an OldScenery.cfg in the same place as the Scenery.cfg?

If so, is it usable?

Yes, It may not be obvious, but if you start with a fresh scenery.cfg you will need to run your addon scenery managers or add your addon scenery directories manually in the FSX scenery page.
