December 1, 201213 yr A friend simmer asked me for help. Whenever he flies ( FS9), any plane over Dominican Republic, his computer crashes. It does not matter the flight direction. How could that be possible?.. Boy, do I miss,David "Opa" from Texas. Any help appreciated. Bob.
December 1, 201213 yr First thing I would check is AI traffic. A faulty texture on an AI aircraft in that area can cause a crash. Test first by turning AI traffic to 0% Also possible that any addon scenery or AFCAD can do the same . Test that by disabling any addon scenery in that location. If it is AI aircraft it can take some time to narrow down the culprit aircraft. Peter Schluter
December 1, 201213 yr Whenever he flies ( FS9), any plane over Dominican Republic, his computer crashes. Hi Bob, It would be helpful to let us know a few things about the FS9 set up. Any MS or FS9 message related to the CTD? What version 9.0 or 9.1 of FS9? Any scenery or AP files installed recently? Does this CTD happen during all season and day and night. Try a flight during mid summer, if the CTD does not occur that may point to using version 9.0 of FS9 and a know bug in the seasons.dll. Installing the update to 9.1 will fix that. If the CTD happens at all times and season that would indicated problems that PSCHULTE has already covered. John Hinson had a very helpful site the explaind numerous FS9 crashes related to FS9 dll files however the link to that site seems to be down or gone. I will attempt to locate the info and post it for you asap. Regards, Mel
December 1, 201213 yr Turn off everything, all sliders to the left -- display, aircraft, scenery weather and AI, then try it again. Time the flight and see if you can define or document the failure. Try other regions with the same setup and try to be as consistent as possible. If it is area specific try to rebuild the scenery database or disable the area that's in question. Does it happen with different airplanes? If you still have the problem look for the common denominator and start your troubleshooting there. Have you tried a clean config file? It's easy and fixes ALOT of treaky problems. If the easy stuff doesn't fix the problem then dump as much data as possible to the forum and we'll try to pick it apart. We'll need your config files (_.ini, _.cfg, etc), all your _.xml files and any / all info on your system, peripherals, and OS. Good luck. Rick Bertz
December 2, 201213 yr Author Thanks to all who replied to this inquiry, which I did for a fellow simmer. I need to link with him (Philippines), and get him on here and run the tests , suggested by Mel and others. I know that he has version 9.1. His problem baffles me as I do not see any relation with flight into a specific location. I will report later on findings. Thanks again Bob
